What Are Our Options When the Constitution No Longer Protects Us?
June 30, 2003 | sweetliberty

Posted on 06/30/2003 5:33:56 PM PDT by sweetliberty

It is heartbreaking to see what is happening to our country. We are plunging into decadence at an alarming rate and it seems that it may already be too late to turn back. Let's face it, we are fast becoming a country that our forefathers wouldn't recognize. Judges have, by and large, become activists for the socialist state. The president is dragged through the mud publicly at every opportunity by members of the opposing party, instead of being honored as our leader as he should be. Lying is as common as breathing no matter whose reputation or career might be damaged and more and more the media we once looked to for information reports only propagnada, half-truths and sometimes blatant lies. We no longer have any real security, neither as a sovreign nation with well-defined and protected borders, nor in our homes where the simple act of defending ourselves or our family can now cost us everything and even land us in prison. Our children are no longer our own to raise, but subjects of the state to be indoctrinated in the ways of "tolerance". The rights of criminals trump those of victims and of society as a whole. Marriage between a man and a woman is considered antiquated and to make a furthur mockery of a sacred institution, it is deemed desirable for the perverse practitioners of homosexuality. The evil doctrine of Islam and prayer to its false god is considered acceptable to impose upon school children, but the sacred scriptures are deemed offensive and prayer to the true God forbidden. The same people who will celebrate the slaughter of 85,000,000 innocents in the womb, will rally to spare the life of a serial murderer. We labor under an increasingly intolerable tax burden and we seem unable to do so much as get a handle on the fraud that keeps putting individuals in public office that work against the interests of the people.

When black has become white, murder is a right, lies are declared to be truth, the wrong word or even expression of belief can cost a job or even land you in jail, where do we turn? Do we continue to accept the increasing weight of the chains of political correctness and liberal tyranny? Do we keep going along with the status quo in hopes of a brighter tomorrow? Are we completely helpless to rise up and take charge of our country or are our chains already so well-forged that fighting them is futile and all we can do is moan under the weight of their burden? Is there any hope of restoring decency and common sense? Can our Republic be resurrected?

If the answer is yes, then how? It seems to matter little whether democrats or Republicans are in power, the wheels of a socialist state seem to have already been set in motion and are gaining momentum all the time. It seems that conservatives, patriots and Christians have only stayed the tide by putting a finger in the dike, but we can only hold back the flood for so long without reinforcements. Will they ever come? And if not, what then? Do we just give up, living the best we can till we die, clinging to what liberty we think we have? Or do we seek alternatives? How much do we value our liberty? Do we move away, find a deserted island somewhere? Do we secede even at the risk of another civil war? Do we challenge the government by passive resistance and noncompliance to force its collapse that we might start over? What is the answer?

I know many FReepers have given this a lot of thought and have ideas about how to cope if/when the current climate becomes unbearable. Desperate times call for desperate measures and it seems we are fast approaching desperation. The liberals would call this progress. I would call it a perilous plunge into the wells of decadence, with the glory of our past fast becoming nothing more than an echo in the ruins of a once great nation. < /rant >

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes And clever in their own sight!..Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away the rights of the ones who are in the right!"- (Isaiah 5-20-23)
"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it." - Abraham Lincoln (first inaugural address)

Yeah, I got a little one now.. Had it out this weekend actually.

A 60' boat can cross oceans.

All these guy's building bomb shelters are wasting their time, imo..

If things get really bad, an escape pod would be preferable.

The only rightful claim of any lawful authority of our federal government is printed within our Constitution. This social contract binds "public servants" as well as We the People to the exact terms of that contract, otherwise each party shall be in breach and outlaw to the Law of the Land.

Our 1st Amendment puts our federal government on notice that we'll talk with whom we please about what we please - especially about our 2nd, which affirms only our God given rights to keep and bear arms in this our free state. On to our 9th, not all by any means of our rights are enumerated as are the powers of government so limited as per enumeration. Our 10th tells the federal government designed by our Constitution that we and our several states damn sure make it plain that we shall remain in control of everything not therein enumerated for government.

Our 14th puts all states and their inferior jurisdictions under the People'e control so that our Bill of Rights is enforcible against all of the several states as well as the federal government.

We the people consent to be governed temporarily by the limited terms specified by our Constitution. We the people reserve the right and power for change of the governing, much less the ruling.

Those high officials who mock their sworn oath of office to play out their view of utopia are in jeopardy of being replaced before their full term of office expires.

To protect and defend our Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic means what it says. Those enemies may know who they are themselves, but We the People know well.

High officials through blackrobe tyranny and mob rule have abused the powers granted by consent of the governed. To claim that citizens are acting unlawfully without legal protection of our Constitution by our objections and actions flies in the face of those very facts that people in office who have violated our Constitution void their lawful authority. Rogue case/bench, aka "controlling legal authority", law or court orders falling from them are not superior to our Law of the Land.

Nullification of our Constitution by announcing "compelling State interest" does not convey upon blackrobes or their accomplices authority by position or preserve their doctrine of "sovereign immunity", not granted in our Constitution, as they pillory the only contract providing their terms of employment. It makes them Outlaws of the Land.

One SCOTUS justice declared that the Constitution is not a suicide pact, but neither is it a contract hit on citizens' rights.

With no lawful authority, they only have power. Forceful police powers of the State. Generations of High office outlaws have gone before, damaging our Republic's Rule of Law. The Clintonazis demonstrated their willingness to abuse power at Mt. Carmel and on and on. Submit or face ruin or simply die. Little matter.

Rules of Engagement understood.

["Revolution."]

What do you think it would take to actually push most of us to that point?

After careful contemplation of this very subject I've sadly come to the inescapable conclusion that as long as Bread and Circuses are readily available, the answer is 'nothing'. I used to think otherwise, but I really don't any more.

I find it funny to see all the threads bemoaning the rape of the Constitution by the supreme Court in light of this latest ruling concerning gays, but remember the silence from many of the same people at many of the other similar injustices being carried out daily in the name of both the war on drugs, and the war on terrorism.

55 - The fight will not begin until we are not allowed to worship Christ.
In PA a bill was recently passed that makes it illegal to speak in public certain parts of the Bible (parts referring negatively to homosexuality). Therefore, your comment is a current reality, not a future concern. The Bible HAS become outlawed in one of our states which supposedly follows the Constitution. Anyone outraged?!

62 - You asked if a major collapse would cause a kind of despair that would lead people to repentance and a return to God or at least their own common sense.
IMO, NO, because the Bible says that in the end times, tribulation will come, and people will curse God more and more (not turn to Him).

81 - You still can demand a warrant before your house is searched. You still can get a trial if you're arrested.
With the passing of the Patriot Act II, both of these will no longer be true. In fact, I think the first one was done away with w/the 1st Patriot Act.

Anymore strawmen out there?

The only option we have is to unite and throw out the corrupt, self-serving two party system by voting for a Third. The Rs and Ds have long taken us for granted and corrupted their power as outlined in the Constitution. That or revolution. Period. They obviously have no interest in hearing what they people want.

I have never heard anyone speak of Lincoln's assassination that way, before.

There are a lot of people (myself included) that believe Lincoln's actions during his term did more to damage liberty than just about anything else in the history of our republic except perhaps the constitutional amendments put in place in 1913.

It all depends, do YOU want to fight? If so, vote for democrats. Or, do you want your KIDS to fight? Then vote for republicans.
You know, the whole tree of liberty thing...

That pretty much sums up what I've been thinking for a long time. Thanks!

I'm confused, is this about states no longer being able to poke their noses into bedrooms or the MTV-ification, OPHRA-fication, and Springer-fication of our culture which, when coupled with a HUGE and unaccountable federal govt., has diversified, feminized, and freakisized a once-free and independent people?

If it's the latter, I'd say these are mere symptoms, while the 'disease' would be the 'living' document interpretations of our constitution.

Common sense and common decency, for instance, have declined at about the same rate as folks have abandoned the 2nd ammendment- their right to use lethal force in self defense anywhere and at anytime, against anyone, including all Saddam wannabes. Most states support this (though they'd be hesitant to prosecute you if you shot an intruder, and could prove that your life was in immediate danger, etc.) Unrestrained governments are comfortable with throwing their weight around. Your life would be pretty much worthless if someday you decided to take up arms over a particular tax increase.(see Tea)

I guarantee that were the 2nd ammendment fully respected as it was intended you would not witness parades being held in celebration of various forms of sexual deviation but rather closet space hard to come by.

Well, well, well.   I figured sooner than later something would come along and piss just about everyone off.  I DID always say it would be something unexpected.  What I did not think was it would be two butt buddies whining at being caught doing the bunghole boogie that would wake up so many as to the real state of affair we are in right now.  What is that state?   OK, let's just see what is here on this very thread....

The answer is the the same as it was in 1861.
SECESSION....a very real alternative, and the only Constitutional remedy to the problem of a tyrannical and overbearing Federal Government, that unfairly taxes it's people, it's courts are abusive etc.

I've got a question. Back in the mid 18th century how many men got together and decided to "do" something. That something being the American revolution. Was it two or three conspirators, or maybe half a dozen? An idea whose time has come cannot be stopped. When or if the time is right it WILL happen. Once the ball starts to roll nothing will stop it.  Is the time now? I doubt it. Our government can't be thrown off just because it pisses us off. The grievances must be insufferable, each man must choose that point for himself. Personally I don't think we're even close, but we're going there.

But when a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future Security."
With Chancellor Palapatine on this thread, I suppose this text would be labelled as seditious. I would have to agree, but from a different mindset.

Rest assured it was not only advanced, but kicked into warp drive. Even if that weren't the case, however, this decision is but one tiny element alongside a thousand others.
This society, this government, this country, is BROKEN, and it's broken beyond repair by conventional means. The notion that we voters have control of this country is a joke, pure illusion. We control nothing.
And like the original poster, I see the decadence and decay accelerating all around us.

So, very educational.  Looks like the kettle is a lot closer to boiling over than the mid-stream media is letting on.  And hardly anyone brought up the issue of  California about to go under from the illegal border crossers, or the issue of the invasion from our South!

Judging from the review of posts on this ONE thread, the shooting war is only a matter of time, and not too much of that either.  Fortunately, it is my best estimation that as soon as the pics of the collaborators hanging from tree branches are thick and fast on internet, the forward thinking, intellectually superior PC crowd will become as popular as skunks at breakfast. And they will surrender.  And they will be dealt with.  No PC here.  I suggest we look to history for guidance on how to deal with traitors.

I for one am advising everyone that preparation is not something you do and complete, it is a daily chore.

Just took a quick look at this thread, and am posting so I can come back to this later. I've thinking about this a LOT lately. Jeff Snyder, in his book, "A Nation of Cowards", asks the question: If the Supreme Court can define our rights, than do we truly have rights? That's a paraphrase, because I don't have it in front of me right now. Good question. If the USSC can make a pronouncement about any of our rights that are guaranteed by the Bill of Rights (guaranteed, NOT granted to us by any government), then we are well and truly screwed.

I'm tired, and heading off to bed, but I'll have to come back to this thread later. I've been thinking a lot of dark thoughts of late about the future of our liverty - or lack thereof.
