What Are Our Options When the Constitution No Longer Protects Us?
June 30, 2003 | sweetliberty

It is heartbreaking to see what is happening to our country. We are plunging into decadence at an alarming rate and it seems that it may already be too late to turn back. Let's face it, we are fast becoming a country that our forefathers wouldn't recognize. Judges have, by and large, become activists for the socialist state. The president is dragged through the mud publicly at every opportunity by members of the opposing party, instead of being honored as our leader as he should be. Lying is as common as breathing no matter whose reputation or career might be damaged and more and more the media we once looked to for information reports only propagnada, half-truths and sometimes blatant lies. We no longer have any real security, neither as a sovreign nation with well-defined and protected borders, nor in our homes where the simple act of defending ourselves or our family can now cost us everything and even land us in prison. Our children are no longer our own to raise, but subjects of the state to be indoctrinated in the ways of "tolerance". The rights of criminals trump those of victims and of society as a whole. Marriage between a man and a woman is considered antiquated and to make a furthur mockery of a sacred institution, it is deemed desirable for the perverse practitioners of homosexuality. The evil doctrine of Islam and prayer to its false god is considered acceptable to impose upon school children, but the sacred scriptures are deemed offensive and prayer to the true God forbidden. The same people who will celebrate the slaughter of 85,000,000 innocents in the womb, will rally to spare the life of a serial murderer. We labor under an increasingly intolerable tax burden and we seem unable to do so much as get a handle on the fraud that keeps putting individuals in public office that work against the interests of the people.

When black has become white, murder is a right, lies are declared to be truth, the wrong word or even expression of belief can cost a job or even land you in jail, where do we turn? Do we continue to accept the increasing weight of the chains of political correctness and liberal tyranny? Do we keep going along with the status quo in hopes of a brighter tomorrow? Are we completely helpless to rise up and take charge of our country or are our chains already so well-forged that fighting them is futile and all we can do is moan under the weight of their burden? Is there any hope of restoring decency and common sense? Can our Republic be resurrected?

If the answer is yes, then how? It seems to matter little whether democrats or Republicans are in power, the wheels of a socialist state seem to have already been set in motion and are gaining momentum all the time. It seems that conservatives, patriots and Christians have only stayed the tide by putting a finger in the dike, but we can only hold back the flood for so long without reinforcements. Will they ever come? And if not, what then? Do we just give up, living the best we can till we die, clinging to what liberty we think we have? Or do we seek alternatives? How much do we value our liberty? Do we move away, find a deserted island somewhere? Do we secede even at the risk of another civil war? Do we challenge the government by passive resistance and noncompliance to force its collapse that we might start over? What is the answer?

I know many FReepers have given this a lot of thought and have ideas about how to cope if/when the current climate becomes unbearable. Desperate times call for desperate measures and it seems we are fast approaching desperation. The liberals would call this progress. I would call it a perilous plunge into the wells of decadence, with the glory of our past fast becoming nothing more than an echo in the ruins of a once great nation. < /rant >

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes And clever in their own sight!..Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away the rights of the ones who are in the right!"- (Isaiah 5-20-23)
"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it." - Abraham Lincoln (first inaugural address)

Close state schools and tell the feds to go to hell.

But alas people want government to support them but not the other folk so state-supported schools were here to stay.

What Are Our Options When the Constitution No Longer Protects Us?

The Constitution is not here to protect us, we are here to protect the Constitution.

I have the very same sentiments as each of you. MM's post was a slap in the face - nobody likes to read the ugly truth.
The church has compromised the absolute truth of God's word in order to be politically correct

IMO, the Southern Bapitists have been steadfast in their values, beliefs, and teachings in accordance with Jesus and biblical verse.

Thanks for the great discussion - good evening.

If only people would begin to revolt, it would only take 100,000 to win and to replace the existing tyrants. Few shots and few people in jail. Low risk for those who are willing to participate. It's all about money and making the government spend more than it can. I call it the broken glass warfare project.

The court is not stupid,

LOL!

You would never know that from the statements made the past few days.

I think the court in their way did what they felt was the right thing to do, but they have indeed upset the apple cart.

I applaud the court for getting government out of the bedroom, but we gave up a states right to make law limiting what many believe to be a immoral relationship.

But is it not the case that all decisions do the same.

Some want to have a constitutional amendment on marriage yet do we not take that away from the state as well? Each time we ask the federal government to take on a responsibility, we take it away from the state to do or not to do. This has been going on for many years. Decades in fact.

Can it be stopped? Reversed?

Yes, I believe it can but not in my lifetime. A steady pressure on the rudder will eventually turn the ship of state. But, it will take as long as it took for the pendulum to swing in the direction it is going now and some major government failure will likely be required to do it any sooner than that.

Some here on the forum have been quite critical of me lately and view some of my thoughts as RINO, CINO and even liberal, but what is needed takes a very long time to accomplish and cannot be done in days, weeks or even years. It takes a social awakening. Whole societies awaken slowly and I believe that is happening as we speak. But the time will be generations long to see the results. I just don't get too excited, waiting for the outcome. I just keep plugging along and advise my kids to advise theirs. In the mean time, we do have a life to lead.

"What are the chances that we can turn it around? I don't mean to be fatalistic, but I am very discouraged. I fear for the future our children will inherit. How are you coping? What are you teaching your children? Where do you see the USA in 10 years? 20 years? What is the legacy of our generations?"

In short, the U.S. will in 20 years become borderless, morally rudderless, socially fragmented, and in hock -- a mini-New York City.

There will be talk of Secession II, but the Supreme Court will vote 6-3 that since they are gods, the ruling of "six gods trumps the will of millions of mere mortals" everytime -- especially if it's in the name of "diversity."

IOW, while most "Americans" shall be hailing the dictator of a new world order -- the One World Government, and saluting the total balkanization of America in the name of egalitarianism, others will be reacting appropriately...

"Close state schools and tell the feds to go to hell."

Well put. In fact, that should still happen. But if it didn't happen back when the federal government was more manageable, the chances of it happening now are slim to none. Besides the fact that the government supported school system is a monster in a perpetual feeding frenzy on our resources and tax revenues, it is also imperative for the advancement of the socialist agenda that children be indoctrinated in political correctness and kept just below the bar of intellectual mediocrity.

I believe that it was conditional upon entry into the Union that Texas has the unique opportunity to divide itself into five sepArate and distinct States.

It is true. For a state to divide into additional states per the Constitution, you need two things to happen. One, the approval of the state legislature and two, the consent of Congress. When Texas came into the union the first time, Congress agreed to the break up of Texas into no more than 4 additional states. It doesn't matter what the agreement was the second time around. Congress has already given their consent. It is not revocable. All it would take is for the Texas legislature to carry out its end of the bargain and divide up into no more than 5 states. It can divide into less if it wants. I posted the source documents here once. All were verified and legal.

I haven't read the others' thoughts yet - but here's my 2 cents.
1. Prayer - serious prayer.
2. Get concealed carry permit if possible and practice. (I have one but am not very practiced!)
3. What about non-compliance en masse? F'rinstance, in (nearby) California they just upped the cost of vehicle registration by a huge amount. What if 5% of the people refused to pay the increase? (It was already WAY too high.) What if 5% refused to pay taxes, or other fees? What if 5% of people refused to cooperate with some other crap that is being shoved down our throats?
Or conversely, if (for example) religious symbols, displays or prayers are disallowed at a function, or in a building, what about continually insisting on wearing them, saying them or displaying them in violation of the "law"?

" -- people want the US to uphold the fact that Californians can decide what laws are applicable to them."

You ~want~ the USSC to 'uphold' the CA assault weapons prohibition?

No... I want the people of California to decide that. I don't understand why the Supreme Court gets involved.

The 'people' of CA decided. They want gun prohibitions. --- The USSC must now strike down this infringement on our RKBA's. That is their job, to defend my right to own an 'assault weapon'. They dare not fail. [CJ bait]

If it is wrong for the USSC to say that Texas cannot have a ban on sodomy? Yes.

No. Same principle applies. The 'people' of Texas cannot infringe upon the privacy of their neighbors bedroom, -- or his gunroom.

There should be no restriction on gun ownership... the USSC should have no difficulty overturning this, because of the US Constitution. But, the people of California have to do something to change. Because this will be just the first law that the USSC will have to overturn. The people of California must see to it that another isn't passed. The people cannot let legislation pass, and then hope that the USSC will overturn it as being unconstitutional. It is similar to Campaign Finance Reform. Bush shouldn't have signed it, because now we wait for the Court to overturn it. They may not. It is a gamble.

Exactly. Bush should have stood on principle. His political fate now rests in the courts hands.

Even if people DID form militias (or what have you) and start a revolt, could we ever hope to succeed? The gov't has all the high-tech weapons and gizmos- the citizens would be out-gunned.

Military coup.

Christ's return is the answer. We are merely stemming the tide, providing more time before the chaos breaks loose, according to Revalation. May we use the time well!

If our founding fathers had done this ... we would still be British subjects. God helps those who HELp THEMSELVES
