California only hours away from total ruin

LOS ANGELES -- Any day now, community colleges here may begin telling faculty members that they cannot be paid and students that summer classes are canceled.

Nursing homes are losing so much state aid that many soon may have to shut down or limit their services, a prospect that has elderly residents confused and frightened.

As many as 30,000 government workers who had been expecting pay raises in the fall are instead receiving formal notices warning that they could lose their jobs by then, because the state is broke.

This is life in California, on the brink of a fiscal disaster.

The nation's most populous state, home to one of the world's largest economies, has been staring in disbelief at the same dire predicament for months: a $38 billion deficit, the largest shortfall in its history and an extreme example of the budget woes afflicting many states. But now it has only hours left to solve the problem.

That is one big paint brush you are wielding

Yeah, I know. I heard the other day that with all the fat in Sacramento Davis has not yet laid off a single state employee & staring at the tax hikes he's proposing this is infuriating.

There must be some way for the good ones such as yourself to keep your jobs, while the surly lard-arses I've encoutered in the past get axed & actually have to go out & earn a living...

After reading about the "Foster moment" replacement, I think Davis is "safe" from that end. Now, the question is "Do the Dems have time to ship a respectable candidate in or might they use one of Hitlery's chicks?? If one of Hitlery's chicks (Feinstein and Bela Pelosi) was assigned the challenge, what would happen to her seat.

No, rants will come forth about him being "full of it!" (grin)

they will cancel all math and science courses and only teach black studies, women's studies, hispanic studies, the history of sex, etc.

C.O., the bankers may not be our friends, but they can't possibly be more money grubbing and malicious than the predominant political party has been.

Look at IMF loans to the thurd whirled. The bankers negotiate those loans at high interest rates "because of the risk of default." They knowingly put the cash in the hands of corrupt governments. Then they come to US taxpayers to bail them out when the money is gone. What risk? Meanwhile, they haven't done a damned thing about the corruption or the rule of law.

I'm not so sanguine. Look at who those bankers are. Rockefeller? Chase? Morgan? Consider how much money was flushed via wildly inflated prospecti during the dot bomb. Why are you so trusting?

Davis can't control illegal immigratio

But he and the other Dems welcomed it with open arms. The Dems are in business just like the private sector - the gov't business (not the business of governing). If you were experiencing significant growth in demand for your goods/services, you would never want the ride to end.

"Why are you so trusting?"

I'm not "trusting," or promoting their role! I'm just comparing their averice to that of the Democrats in power!!!

I ask you... Which is the lesser evil??? Would you trust continued Dem control over greedy/risk averse banker control???

My money has been on Chi Fi all along. If the repubies in the 2004 election can increase their numbers in the Senator, ChiFi and other rat senators will lose a lot of the remaining power they have now with more to come.

As a powerful US senator, Chi Fi has helped her husband to become even richer. As a weak back bencher, she will have little power to help him.

As a governor of California if our economy pulls out which it will as the cycle improves across the country, she would be in perfect spot to direct business towards her husband's various business. Also, the billions and billions of $ left in Calpers after Davis, could be invested in Herbie's various deals.

Also, she is of the age that traveling back and forth to DC is no longer fun.

Pelosi would only carry SF, Marin and a few other areas. She is a real irritant to most people outside of those left wing areas.

If the recall goes through, I predict a draft ChiFi movement. She will throw a scarf into the ring as a reluctant campaigner. If she loses, she still has her senate job. If she wins she can appoint another left wing rat to replace herself when she resigns from the senate and becomes governor.

Okay, here's my solution
MOJAVE CALIFORNIA--Kern, Kings, Inyo, San Bernadino, Riverside, and Imperial counties (Bush won 52-44)
(Inherits all of California's Colorado River water rights)

SOUTH CALIFORNIA--San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties (Gore won 54-42)

CALIFORNIA CENTRAL--Tulare, Mono, Fresno, Madera, Merced, Mariposa, Tuolumne, Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Stanislaus, San Joaquin, El Dorado, Yolo, Sacramento, Placer, Sutter, Yuba, Butte, Colusa, and Glenn, Counties (likely Bush)

ALTA CALIFORNIA--Del Norte, Siskiyou, Modoc, Lassen, Plumas, Sierra, Nevada, Shasta, Humboldt, Trinity, Tehama, Mendocino, and Lake Counties (likely Bush)

and finally, inheriting all of California's debt...
CALIFORNIAN PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC--Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Solano, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda, Santa Clara, San Benito, and Monterey (toss-up between Dims and further-left parties, but every county went Gore in 2000)

But he and the other Dems welcomed it with open arms.

They did, and have done nothing to choke off the welfare magnet. So they are partly to blame, but since the federal government won't do a thing to stop the flow, illegals can just state hop till they find the most accommodating sap.

One way or the other, all taxpayers of the country will get stuck with the bill.

Thanks Dave: I'm sure the Dems are VERY busy planning the demise of any Repub candidate. "Whaddaya mean, there's no FBI file on Ah nold?? He's connected to the Kennedy's isn't he?? Find his wife's file!!!!!" is the image I picture.

Hillary was willing to bring the Kennedy "intern" into view to promote herself as a "martyered" wife, also. Who knows what she would do!!!! Maybe even go after our Olympic swimmer,Teddy, (whom I believe she hates).

"Limiting the invasion from Mexico isn't an option yet, huh ? Guess the "crisis" isn't severe enough.

Looks like extreme left-ism is not working for CA. Shhhh! Don't draw ANY parallels between large influx of illegals and high unemployment rates---you'll pop the whole "We Are The (3rd) World" bubble!

had prposed to Dick Armey once that the State's take over collecting the Federal Income taxf rom their citizens using their existing State tax collection administrations.

The citizens then would file only one tax return, and submit only 1 check for both State and Fed taxes.

The IRS could be almost entirely eliminated.

The State would forward the appropriate amount of revenues to the Federal government (without even changing the current Fed tax rates).

The cash flow would then be from citizen to State to Federal. A much healthier relationship.

If the federal government controlled illegal immigration by closing the borders and deporting those illegally in the country, then all the taxpayers wouldn't be forced to bail out states paying mandated costs such as education and medical for these people. Davis may be an irresponsible liberal governor, but the fault of illegal immigration is squarely on the shoulders of the feds.

Some Republicans do love to rail on about illegal immigration. Well Republicans that know what the f is going on know that there wouldn't BE any illegal immigration if it wasn't for the FACT that the 10th (California) and Number 1 (US) economies in the world craves a steady diet of cheap labor like a crackhead craves dope.

BTW: People that aren't from California think that we are being taken over by Mexicans, when we are actually being taken over by Asians (Chinese mostly.) Mexicans intigrate into society in about one generation, while Asians take over entire cities change all the signs to Chinese and Korean and keep to themselves.

The libs are salivating if Arnold runs. You can be a sexual predator as a Rat and get votes. If you do that as a repubie, you lose votes.

They have trotted out the old charges against Issa. I'm not an Issa fan, but he has never dodged those old charges.

Davis is one of the most dangerous people in America to run against. He has money to fund private detectives and to buy the mediots to print half truths.
