Howdy Texas Freepers. I can't find where anyone posted a thread about our luncheon today in San Antoniom so thought I would in case any of you wished to post pictures. For those that didn't make it, we had a great turnout. Those in attendance were Jim Robinson, Mrs., and Chris, plus Jim's brother, Ms. AntiFeminazi, Slyfox,SWake,PetroniDE, RikaStrom, Guido, Hocndoc & Mr. Hocndoc,TXBubba, Blastus and their two children, Tall Texan, IVote2 & Mr. IVote2, Mil-Vet & Mrs. Mil-Vet, RimTop 56, Sockmonkey, TxGrandMom, Ravingnutter, BenR2,TheSarce and Gracey.
Now that's pretty good for an afternoon turnout in Texas, considering people came from Houston, Dallas/Ft Worth, Austin, Canyon Lake, Kerrville, New Braunfels and many locals from San Antonio area.
The food was wonderful, the company was magnificent and it was just plain GREAT spending time with our favorite freeper Jim Robinson.

Sorry you weren't able to make it, maybe next time. I was able to work it in between visits with my 2 grandkids, who fortunately live in that area. I had such a wonderful time that I called my son-in-law and told him I would be late getting to his house. The food was great and it was so nice to finally meet everyone, especially Jim Robinson. Can't wait until the pictures get posted! A big thanks to Gracey and Guido for setting this up!
To: Ms. AntiFeminazi
It's great that North Texas was well-represented.
Sorry I couldn't make it.

LOL! Well, come to think of it, it WAS a party, so reliving it here in (misspelled?) words MIGHT be construed to be partying all over again - BIGGER grin!

Would have loved to have been there Gracey but just too much going on here right now. I was with you in spirit for sure.
To: Ms. AntiFeminazi
I sure hated to miss this---tried every way I could think of to sneak off for it. However, I had houseguests coming and going, and I just couldn't get away. It was the 4 hrs on the road that killed the deal for me. Add a couple of hours for the fun and festivities in the restaurant, and I think my family would have noticed that I was MIA--LOL!
Mr. JimRob, I sure hated to miss seeing you this go around--I do hope you will be back next year.

Basil, I honestly asked about you yesterday at the FREEP MEET. You were truly missed.
Thanks Gracey and MAF for putting this together and getting the word out. It is an obvious fact that when you 2 speak EVERYONE listens. Great turnout for JIM and his WIFE.
When Jim and his family arrived the 20 plus of us all stood up and clapped and cheered loudly. The other customers must have been wondering who this person was getting all the attention. Little did they know how much Jim you have come to mean to all of us. Didn't get to talk to you much at all but it was ok, it felt great being a part of this event and sharing you with us all. Thanks for all you have done and continue to do for this COUNTRY.
It was great meeting you BenR2, sockmonkey, ravingnutter, rimtop56, TxBubba and I must tell you all that Ivote2 is a darling lady.

I'm so glad we were able to drive down and see everyone. And thank you all so much for the compliments on the kids! The oldest truly enjoyed the tortilla maker and told me how to do it all the way home. LOL!
It was great to meet even more of you in person and to meet some of you again! We thought it was funny that most of our table turned out to be from our home town of Austin. Had to drive to San Antonio to meet more Austin freepers! Would have loved to have spent more time at the round table but with little kids I just couldn't get over there. Maybe next time.
Thanks for spending your afternoon with us Jim and family!

Well, I started uploading a few of the pictures I took yesterday and ran into a snag. As it is, y'all aren't missing much. The camera didn't work too well. Anyhow, three pictures made the trip into the netherworld, and here they are:
Slyfox
Ms. Anti-Feminazi
hocndoc & husband

I enjoyed listening to your stories more than just about anything I have heard at any FReep and/or meet I've been to thus far. I would be interested in a "history from my viewpoint" posting about your experiences, especially the time you spent in Iran.
Great meeting you!

Well...we'll just have to do it again then : ) TheSarce took pictures as well, hopefully they will come out ok. If nothing else, we all came away from this with really great memories and alot of new friends!
To: ravingnutter
I really wanted to go. Just couldn't make it.
To: basil
We missed you too basil. It was short notice. I still haven't figured out if this group is more responsive to months in advance planning or last-minute notices. lol.
You and I will keep on trying to get it together. I hope you enjoyed your visit with your family.
To: GUIDO; Jim Robinson
LOL! The manager came up to me and grabbed my arm and whispered, "Who is that man?" I tried to explain to him why Jim is such a celebrity to us and he said, "Wow. It's great to have him here!" lol.
Too bad he wasn't a little easier to deal with in the beginning.
To: Gracey
Sorry we didn't make it. Sounds like a great turnout!

Personal experiences are the nectar of any roundtable (no pun intended, since we WERE at a large, round table) discussion, and I love hearing "war stories" as much or more than I love telling 'em!
I liked hearing Hocndoc's optimism, Rikastrom's anecdotes, Petroni-DE's stories, etc., etc., and I'm a tad frustrated that my rotten hearing kept me from picking up much from folks any farther away (Gracey, slyfox and MS antifeminazi almost had to shout for me to hear them from across the big round table - LOL!).
What I really liked was the chance to get the context of what was being said - via e-mail or posting, one has not the chance to ask for clarification or peripheral data. It was simply outstanding! Coulda handled another several hours if time had permitted all around!
Roger "great meeting" EVERYONE, and hope to be able to sit down with you sometime in the not-to-distant future, SWake, to kick around specific "warstories" of choice - SMILE!
The old saying "...and a great time was had by all!" comes to mind!!
