Parade Treatment Irks Gay Groups

Activists Preparing To Clash With Christian Coalition

POSTED: 8:28 p.m. HST June 27, 2003
UPDATED: 8:37 a.m. HST June 28, 2003

The American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii is suing Honolulu city and county officials for excluding gay groups from a parade next week.

The ACLU filed suit Friday in U.S. District Court.

According to the complaint, the city and the Hawaii Christian Coalition promoted the July 5 "Family Day Parade" as co-sponsors.

But after gay groups repeatedly tried to join, the suit says the organizers claimed the event was privately sponsored only by the Christian Coalition.

Gay groups say over the years they have had to fight to put on their own gay pride parade and they can't understand why the city has pumped taxpayer money into promoting the Christian Coalition event.

"The city is jumping though hoops to help them with the parade," said gay rights advocate Ken Miller. "What kind of equality is that?"

City spokeswoman Carol Costa says the event is not organized by city and county officials and the rules are up to the Christian Coalition.

Hawaii Christian Coalition representative Garrett Hashimoto says as the main sponsor of the family parade, the Coalition can legally exclude who it wants.

"We don't want (a) political or personal organization's agenda in this parade," he said.

Hashimoto says it would be inappropriate for a group promoting a gay lifeystyle to march in what is essentially a children's parade.

A hearing in federal court is set for July 1 at 3 p.m.

Homosexuality:

Homosexuality is deviant sexual behavior and a mental illness.

Homosexuals: 1) subject their body parts to uses nature did not intend, such activities often presenting immediate risk to the participants; 2) are prone to greater suicide, depression and other mental disorders and deficiencies than the heterosexual population at large; 3) are prone to far greater sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS, than the (normal) heterosexual population; 4) molest young people (pedophilia) at a far greater rate than heterosexuals; 5) engage in degrading sexual promiscuity, oftentimes engaging in risky sex with many partners during the same event; 6) are engaged in aggressive and widespread efforts to indoctrinate our children by introducing the homosexual lifestyle using public schools as the primary indoctrination “vehicle” and likewise, through the movie/music/TV industry, with the dual goals of gaining school-age acceptance of homosexuality and encouraging sexual activity among children, especially same-sex experimentation; 7) view most everything through a mindset heavily biased in favor of the homosexual lifestyle and culture, which renders them mostly useless when asked to opine on matters that normal heterosexuals better resolve.

The mental deficiencies described herein applying to homosexuals shall not be confused with the deficiencies associated with the left wing democrat/socialist/marxist/ feminist/environmentalist minds, etc., which have their own distinct set of mental disorders.

This doesn't even touch on what the Bible has to say about homosexuality.

Two of my sons, when they were in their late teens/early twenties, went on shalichut (that is the Jewish version of outreach ministry) in San Francisco and Miami South Beach. Although not particularly prejudiced to begin with, they both returned home confirmed "homophobes" although my son claims that is not the accurate word. "I'm not afraid of gays," he said, "but they had better be very afraid of me!"

Jim Robinson considers "liberaltarians" to be "our good friends".

False friends sometimes deceive the good hearted.

Ouch! This from one just back from ministry? Did he extract confessions and win souls with a Louisville Slugger?

He has no patience with queers who covet his ass, who hit on him constantly and then tell him, "you're in denial."

Repeat after me...

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me."

Seriously, now. What's he planning to do to the gay person who commits the horrible offense of thinking he's attractive and asking him out?

Update: A local judge ruled against the gay activists late on Thursday; too late for an appeal before the event on Saturday morning. The queers turned out in force at the parade to protest and got their mugs on local TV calling everyone homophobes and bigots. The usual stuff.

"Look at ME! Look at ME! Look at ME!" Like a bunch of three year olds begging for attention.

They had their own "Gay Pride" parade the weekend before but that wasn't enough for them. They had to barge in on the Christian Coalition's Family Day parade too.

What a bunch of jerks.

Thanks for the update. The behavior you described is pretty much normal for them. Glad their over-the-top antics got on TV. I suspect many normal folks are turned off by this.
