The presence of two key Clinton Sexgate impeachment players on a board of U.S. Catholic bishops convened to monitor the Church's handling of the priest sex abuse scandal is raising eyebrows.

"The resignation of former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating as chairman of the National Review Board formed by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops ... raises additional troubling questions concerning the board's composition," the Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group Judicial Watch said on Monday.

Serving on the panel all but unnoticed: high-powered Beltway lawyer Robert Bennett, who represented Bill Clinton in the Paula Jones case and presided over Clinton's deposition when he lied about having sex with Monica Lewinsky.

Also on the Catholic bishops panel: Leon Panetta, the former White House chief of staff whose office became Monica Lewinsky's first White House workplace. Panetta first testified that he was "not aware of any improper relationship" between Clinton and Lewinsky.

But he later admitted: "Obviously, there was something more here. And it's got to be explained to the American people."

"Bob Bennett and Leon Panetta qualify for the 'who's who' of cover-up experts, not for membership on the bishops' National Review Board for combating sexual abuse," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "Or maybe that's the point?" he added.

Be proud we have MEN like Gov. Keating in our Church, as well as the hierarchs who are trying to do the right thing. The fact that Satan has suborned some of the hierarchy is regretable, but it has happened before.

That is unbelieveable! I have always liked to hear Dornan and he says it like it is -- just like Gov Keating!

Someone said on the radio here in the OKC area that they thought Bennett would be named Chairman -- I cannot believe that would happen!

Gov Keating has had problems with the local bishop in OK too because he said his job as Governor came first when the Pope tried to get him to give a death row inmate that had killed part of his family clemancy. Gov Keating refused the Pope, and the local Bishop planned to attack Keating in Church that Sunday from the pulpit. Gov Keating did not attend Church that Sunday and the Bishop blasted him.

The people that appointed Governor Keating should have realized he was a straight shooter and if anyone could get to the bottom of all of this, it would be him. Instead they tied his hands and people refused to talk! I thought Keatings comments were right!

Am not Catholic, but my children's one set of Grandparents are along with all the relatives on their Dad's side. I tried to convert but the priest that I talked to gave me the creeps -- turned out a friend of mine told me that he was outed as being involved in this scandal. Didn't surprise me at all! After that and several other incidents that didn't set right with me, the kids were not raised in the Catholic Church.

I have seen Leon and Bob Bennett on CNN and I think they are sincere about this oversight thing they are doing with the Bishops.

I really did not like those two people before but if they can help the bishops with this current situation,I would be very grateful to them.

Lets face it there is really nothing in it for them, except the fact that they are Catholics and are trying to help the Church, and I give them credit for that.

...Sherrif BACA then gave free use of the L.A. Sheriff's Helicopter to Cardinal MAHONY for at least 2 years.

I wonder just how the Cardinal used it..?
