BOYCOTT NORTH BEACH, MARYLAND | PETITION
Pier & Surf ^ | Clyde Blake

Posted on 06/28/2003 10:18:36 AM PDT by sea critter

This really get me steamed! Are there any users here who vacation or have visited North Beach, Maryland?

North Beach, Calvert County Maryland http://ci.north-beach.md.us: Mayor Mark Frazer: http://ci.northbeach.md.us/officials.html:

Heres the deal folks. The residence of North Beach are blaming the fishermen for the noise and trash problems on the pier and the boardwalk.

The fact is most of the noise and trash comes from their on people and children. They party out there all the time and race their cars up the strip at all hours keeping the waterfront residence awake at night and we are getting the blame.

Last month at a town meeting a motion was voted on and passed by the residence to close the pier from 11:00pm to 6:00am. On July 1st they will close the pier to fishing at these hours.

A petition is being passed around the pier to stop the closing but we need more help!

Below is a statment to boycott North Beach Md. if they close the pier. Please copy and past this statment into your e-mail program. Add your name, address, phone number and e-mail address to the list and send it to Mayor Mark R. Frazer at mfrazer@ci.north-beach.md.us or print it out and snail mail it. Send a carbon copy to me at clyde.blake@verizon.net In the next day or so I will do a (BOYCOTT NORTH BEACH) webpage and I would like to add your names to a list on the page.

When the page is completed I will send the URL to Mayor Frazer and submit it to all search engines. I've used this tactic before and it works well, there is power in numbers.

Thanks in advance for your help, we really need it...Clyde Blake (AKA) Hat80

Send an E-mail Petition

Boycott North Beach Maryland

Mayor Mark R. Frazer Phone: (410) 535-2011 or (301) 855-6681 Fax: (410) 535-6344 Town Hall: P.O. Box 400 Chesapeake Beach, Maryland 20732 E-mail: mfrazer@ci.north-beach.md.us

Dear Mr. Mayor,

We the following will boycott the public pier, beach and all business in North Beach Maryland if and when the town of North Beach starts closing the public pier from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am, or any other hours. We will tell all our fishing friends and their families to do the same.

Furthermore we who possess a season pass want all paid monies refunded because the passes were bought before the public pier closing issue was brought up.

The town of North Beach Maryland is breaking the contract entered here into. The public beach and pier passes were bought with the knowledge that the entitled have the right to fish or use the beach 24/7 during the year.

It’s no secret the town of North Beach is more than 2.5 million dollars in the red. This boycott will have serious impact on the economic situation of the merchants and business in your town.

We would ask that you postpone the July 1st closing of the pier and look at an alternate solution. Closing the pier to night time fishing is not the answer to your problems...Thank You.

Darn. I never vacationed in North Beach, because I lived to close to Assateague Island (VA) for so many years. On the other hand, I agree from experience that the noise and trash come from the partying tourists rather than the locals, ESPECIALLY the fishermen...why on earth would the fishermen scare away the darned fish they're fishing for???

I boycott all of Maryland, and D.C. They both have higher taxes, liberal politicians, absurd rules (e.g., the no outdoor smoking ban in Friendship Heights, near Bethesda), no concealed carry gun permits allowed, corrupt elections (remember Ellen Saurbrey's recount efforts), anti-growth, anti-business politics. In short, MD & DC represent everything I don't believe.

Wanna bet some of these complainers are wealthy liberals?

There's actually a lot of "section 8" housing in the North Beach-Chesapeake Beach area, and I suspect a good bit of the "noise and trash" comes from the residents of those houses.

Last year, a public duck blind was set alight and burned there. We thought at first it was the work of animal-rights extremists, but it turned out to have been done by teenage delinquents with too much tim on their hands.

I live in the North Beach/Chesapeake Beach area and I think that closing the pier at night isn't a half bad idea. I actually stopped using the pier because of the mess that the out of town fishermen make. I can't even go out to the end and lean on the railing and listen to the water without getting covered in fish guts, squid chunks, dried up worm goo, and God only knows what else gets cut up on the railings. Use a cutting board for crying out friggin loud! The Town closes the bathrooms at night so that people don't vandalize them, so what do disrespectful fishermen do??? They urinate all over the lower decks of the pier, they go #2 on the bathroom doors, that is just sick!!

No, I am NOT one of the people that has been complaining, but I know most of them that do complain, and yes some of them are whinny(sp?), liberals who are also wealthy, well maybe not wealthy, but comfortable.

Sea critter, you are only partially right about the noise issue. Yes some of the noise comes from the kids racing up Bay Ave, but fishermen do a lot of hootin' an' hollerin' every time they get a fish on.

Thank you for listening to my rant

Oh yeah, one more thing, instead of overflowing the trash cans, how about walking over to the next one that doesn't have as much in it and put your trash in there. Quit being lazy.
