Joan Kennedy was forever in driving accidents in MA. I don't think she ever went to jail.

Jesus said to love your enemies. He did not say to kill them.
Doing Christianity is difficult.

You seem to know the area. A question if I may. From the point where she hit him, to where her house is, are there any fire stations, police stations or hospitals, that a person in the area would obviously know about? I lived in Fort Worth in the late 50s and early 60s.
In the sentencing part of Chante's own testimony, she knew where those places were. Her brother was even a fireman or paramedic with Fort Worth too. No ignorance there, and she certainly knew how to find a phone and dial 911.
For Chante, it was ALL about Chante and not getting caught.

Yes, definitely rehearsed. I also was thinking about it and was wondering what
input her family may have had with her to get her to show some sort of remorse too.

Aren't you surprised she could get home without being seen by anyone? - Any car she passed would have seen the guy in the windshield. Amazing that no one saw and reported it.

The hate crime issue/theory has been brought up on every thread posted on this story. I tend to agree with President Bush on that. He didn't sign a hate crime bill when he was Governor because there are laws governing all violent crimes. In Texas, if you willfully or negligently kill someone, you're going to face justice and be punished - period. (Self defense and other justifiable cases excluded, of course).

This was about right, although I wouldn't have minded seeing a prosecutor going for capital punishment on it.
It was pretty much as sickening and depraved an act as deliberate torture.
But thats just me - I have no pity for the sobs of a witless woman.
To: Chancellor Palpatine
Couldn't ask for death as it did not qualify under Texas law. This case has redefined depraved indifference!

60 years is about right, a little light. She is all sad in court- Please remember what she did. Drunk, doped up and driving out of control she ran over a pedestrian-the guy could have lived if taken to a hospital, she didn't do that.Instead, she let him die slowly. Dumping the body proves that she was planning to get away with it,and that she was not sorry at all. She is only sorry she got caught!

I don't know how I got pulled into the hate crime issue, but since you brought it up, I agree. You should be punished for murder, period.
I was just thought it was interesting to imagine this case as a guy hitting a woman. I think people would tend to be less sympathetic to a male.
To: Dubya
OK. Thanks for your time. God Bless.

What have you heard about Darlie Routier lately? The grim reaper should be drawing nigh. Didn't that happen this month in 1996? If I recall, she was convicted in January of '97.
Yes, she murdered her two boys on June 6, 1996. Really weird too. I used to work with her and her hubby Darin back in the late 80s. The day she killed them was my 12th anniversary with the company. She left the company ~1989 because she was pregnant with the first child at the time.
I'm not sure what the next step in the process is, but here is the last article posted on FR about her situation:
Routier appeal rejected -
woman on Texas Death Row for murdering 2 young sons
And here is her Death Row profile:

You used to work with her?! How horrible. I think it would have made me physically ill!
To: MeeknMing
I'm wondering if the time she serves will be a little more difficult because of the fact (mentioned in testimony) that she worked at times as a prison guard.

"I think people would tend to be less sympathetic to a male."Especially a white male, hitting a black female. I wish the minorities would take a page from the book of how this case was handled by the white relatives of the victim: no cries of hate crimes, no race cards played whatever. This is how it should be: a person was hit by a car driven by another person, then left to die. On the merits of those facts alone, she is being punished. And that, in my view, is how it should be.

With some notable exceptions, I can often tell age by wisdom and style. I though Jeff was maybe 10 years older than me.
I meant it as a compliment. I had not seen a picture.
I better watch my back now...lol
