Its supposedly Rehnquist judging by news reports (and we know how accurate THOSE are!)

Drudge, on the Sean Hannity radio show yesterday, said he was convinced that there was going to be an announcement today. Probably the same source. We'll know soon, I guess. It's probably too much to hope that it's Stevens.
To: The G Man
Supposedly informed scuttlebutt was that it is O'Connor. I certainly WISH it is either Stevens or Ginsburg, and HOPE its the stealth leftist Souter.

I heard Tommy Daschle last night whine that the Senate Dems better be consulted BEFORE any nominations are made to the Supreme Court. If Rehnquist goes, Bush has every right to nominate a hardline conservative.
I actually think a fight on Bush's Supreme Court nomination could really hurt the Dems. Kind of like bringing the Estrada tactics to the forefront. We shall see....

I predict it's two...Stevens AND Sandra...the Dems new strategy, since the are finally getting the idea that the GOP will play hardball in the Senate, is to get a lib and a conservative....i.e...keep the current balance, in the interest of "fairness"....they'll figure it's better than losing all three seats...

Bush has every right to nominate a hardline conservative. And the obligation. My vote: J. Michael Luttig of the Fourth Circuit.

Hopefully it's O'connor.
She is a shame to her faith and the court, and she has been the pivotal figure on bad rulings. With Ginsburg and the others, we know where they stand. One can never tell with O'connor.

Drudge said on Hannity radio program yesterday that at last one justice might announce retirement very soon. He didn't say which. However, several (nearl all) are having age-related problems. Drudge mentioned one justice lost urinal control during a recent news conference.
Drudge also indicated that the biggest summer event will be the hearings for any SC judicial nominee--it will be down and dirty.
Pubbies in the Senate need to their things in order fast, or the SC process will be a fiasco like the 2+ current filibusters.

Good point on O'Connor. I liken her to a bad referee in sports. One day she's a constructionist, then the next day she feels the need to 'even out' by legislating from the bench. She's a real waffler.
Looks like they just struck down the Texas sodomy law.

".... Looks like they just struck down the Texas sodomy law..." Does this mean the Texas Dem legislators don't have to go to the Motel 6 in Oklahoma any more?

I heard Matt Drudge on Hannity yesterday. He said Thurgood Marshall, on one of his last if not his last, press conference, lost urinal control. This comment was to prove that these judges often overstay their physical competence.

Urinal control?!?! Does that mean he couldnt figure out how to flush one? 8-)
I remember how bats-ass crazy he was when he was still on the court. In an interview, a reporter asked him his opinion on Ronald Reagan. He answered, I do not wish to speak ill of the dead. When the reporter pointed out to him that Reagan wasnt dead, he got all confused and couldnt answer any more questions.

I was going to say, as long as it's not Thomas I couldn't care less.
Scalia has some salvagable qualities, but Renquist is for the most part a statist old fart.

The best scenario would be Ginsburg or one of the other liberals, but that ain't happening. I certainly wouldnt mind watch Sandra "I get all the attention because I'm a swing vote" Day O'Conner put out to pasture.
I take back my previous post, I kinda to care now that I think of it. Thomas needs to live to be 436 around years old.

Whenever I want to annoy a liberal, I point out to them that Clarence Thomas is likely to still be on the court a quarter century from now.
It makes them want to cry.
