Read A Book (title) by Desi Arnaz for a good example. If his book says he was persecuited by McCarthy, he is lying.
McCarthy was a Senator.
The Senate never investigated actors.
They appeared before the House UnAmerican Activities Committee.
You may have read in a history book that they were persecuited by McCarthy but that does not make it so.
Liberal historians have screwed up a lot of things, including this myth.

Those who were targetted (fairly or unfairly) by the Red Scare in America, often just moved on, and had distinguished careers in some other field of work. Their Polish and Hungarian compatriots were taken outside and shot. Ladies and gentlemen, THIS is a terrific example of how to winningly debate a point, IMO. Excellent!

I am not enamoured of Starr, but did you read any of the Starr report? It was not all about Monica as you have been led to believe. My reason for not being thrilled with him is that I am not so sure he was aggressive enough in prosecuting the real important things the Clinton's did.

This is why the Democrats love her so.They love her so, because they love THESE ideas so:
1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax. (See also, Wesley Clark comments of 6/15/03)
3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
5. Centralization of credit in the banks of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.
6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in he hands of the state.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state; the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
8. Equal obligation of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country.
10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc.
When, in the course of development, class distinctions have disappeared, and all production has been concentrated in the hands of a vast association of the whole nation, the public power will lose its political character. Political power, properly so called, is merely the organized power of one class for oppressing another. If the proletariat (aka "The Working Poor" -- see also, Democrats campaign speeches 1987-2003) during its contest with the bourgeoisie is compelled, by the force of circumstances, to organize itself as a class; if, by means of a revolution, it makes itself the ruling class, and, as such, sweeps away by force the old conditions of production, then it will, along with these conditions, have swept away the conditions for the existence of class antagonisms and of classes generally, and will thereby have abolished its own supremacy as a class.

Communists love Izzy Stone and froth at the mouth anytime his Soviet connections are mentioned. They fight like tigers to preserve his manufactured reputation as a great journalist.
Izzy excelled in Soviet propanganda. His theme was that Amerika was wrong but the communists in Russia and China only wanted peace.
Stone's greatest piece of fiction was The Hidden History of Korea in which he claimed to have proven the US invaded and attacked North Korea thereby provoking the Korean conflict. Communist sympathizer Howard Zinn and other pretend historians leaped on this bandwagon because in their minds America is the great Satan.
In 1976 the New York Times printed Izzy Stone's great defense of Alger Hiss. Hiss, according to the communists, was the victim an 'evil' right wing conspiracy.

same page...
(13) Barry Goldwater, With No Apologies (1979)
Joe McCarthy was unquestionably the most controversial man I ever served with in the Senate. The anti-anticommunists were outraged at his claims that some of the principals in the Truman and Roosevelt administrations actively served the communist causes.
McCarthy was supported by a strong, nationwide constituency, which included among others, Joseph P. Kennedy, the father of John, Bob, and Edward. A variety of respected, creditable federal employees disturbed by security risks in the national government provided McCarthy with a steady stream of inside information.
The liberals mounted a skillfully orchestrated campaign of criticism against Joe McCarthy. Under the pressure of criticism, he reacted angrily. It is probably true that McCarthy drank too much, overstated his case, and refused to compromise, but he wasn't alone in his beliefs.
Very difficult to find about author, people and organizations behind the webpage ...rto

You made a very good point here about Spartacus. Its cites about the Cold War seldom vary from the communist party line. Their write-ups about the Black Panthers are full of sympathy and justifications for BP crimes.
Spartacus hides all its sources for this propaganda. I wonder who is funding Spartacus?
