MoveOn Primary Has A Hiccup

Voters jam, stall online primary
By Associated Press, 6/25/2003
ASHINGTON -- Activists staging a massive online Democratic presidential primary ran into some technical problems yesterday as a flood of Internet voters briefly overwhelmed the MoveOn.org website and halted the voting process for more than an hour. About 50,000 people were able to cast electronic ballots for Democratic candidates on the advocacy group's website before the system crashed around 11:15 a.m. EDT.
''We had a much greater load than we expected all at once,'' said Wes Boyd, president of the MoveOn.org's political action committee, which organized the vote. ''We did some tuning and tweaking to make the voting program more efficient, and we anticipate there will be no more problems.''
The primary began at midnight Monday and was to remain open through midnight tomorrow, but Boyd said he would extend the voting period for at least another hour and 15 minutes to account for the glitch. He said the group would send a follow-up e-mail to members who had not yet voted.
The online advocacy group, best known for its efforts to mobilize opponents of the US-led war against Iraq, will endorse the candidate who wins more than 50 percent of the vote and ask its 1.4 million members to donate money to the winning candidate's campaign. Last year, MoveOn.org members contributed $4.1 million to the congressional candidates highlighted on its site.
All nine Democratic presidential candidates are participating in the virtual primary. Boyd expects hundreds of thousands of votes to be cast, with the winner to be announced Friday.

Goooooo Rev. Al

I only got 3 votes in for Rev Al... My second column was Sharpton and Kucinich.

Sexist pig! Mosley-Braun was in my second column!
(26 times? I have plenty of throw away emails I can use...but what did you use for a phone/address? I gave 'em the number for the local NAACP.)

Sir Fish, I must dispute your claims. I actually heard a whole interview with one of the MoveOn people on NPR yesterday. According to him the poll was set so only pre-registered MoveOn members could vote, and each person could only vote once.
But, in support of your post, a caller to the station complained that when she tried to vote it didn't register. Thus ensued one of those common conversations about computers not working. With the MoveOn guy basically saying "what do you mean?" and the caller insisting "it just didn't work" (I hate computers, computer techs and computer users, I go through this all the time at work. I even hate myself, but mostly, I hate Bill Gates, and his tax loving father!)
Anyway, for your sake, let us hope this lady's vote finally did register, as she was also supporting Rev. Al!
Move on MoveON!

Ah, yes. Sizzling leftists destroying the Demo party.
I wonder how many of their votes will be for Gebhardt or Lieberman, the only candidates that will give Bush a halfway decent challenge?
The problem with the Demos is the kooks are in control, and they don't realize it.

Another case of The Man keeping us down! Another reason why Republicans shouldn't running around, thinking they're cool, saying, "Wow, Bush is the man!"
Folks across the street noddin' they heads sayin' "yeah, knew it".

You could vote one vote per email address. I was able to vote for Al twice. I received a confirmation for each of these votes.

"...I was able to vote for Al twice..."
AHA, so that was how it worked. Ok, well the caller should be happy, looks like plenty of freepers picked up the pro-Al slack for her!

Lying/cheating has always been the downfall of your party and, I suspect, as time goes by, you'll wonder how Clinton/Gore were ever nominated, let alone elected, in the first place.
To: jocon307
Dispute what? I registered to vote 26 times using a different email address each time. I was emailed a different link to vote with at each address. After I voted each time, I deleted my cookies and cache. I used addresses and phone numbers from a large national restaurant chain for my contact infos. As far as I could tell, every one of my votes counted. It took me about 2 hours to do all the voting.

I also changed my voter registration to Democrat last year. I see voting as an obligation and sometimes I feel more obligated to chose the correct enemy to fight instead of allowing only those on the dark side to select them for the general election.

What an idiot!
This is a vote for some goofball activist site, not for our governmental elections. It is illegal to vote more than once in real elections. MoveOn is an organization that exists mostly just to provide large incomes to it's operators and to give them a political soap box to push their extremist hate and tripe. This vote scam is just a promotional event to get them out in the media and to hopefully raise some more donations. Heck, they hit you up for donations right after you vote in their freak poll.

Th DUmmies are screaming fraud!
In an internet poll!
One even states that we will get what is coming to us after the "revolution".
