She lost me at "pledge". The pledge is a democratic socialist invention, and was to promulgate certain "social justice" goals in a benign and palatable format.

It isn't especially American to say an oath to a flag, and I won't do it. It does not negate my love of country.

I'll salute the flag and what it stands for in other ways.

You might demonstrate where she's wrong, or otherwise, that she's right about attacking the messenger.

McCarthy had the Commies right where he wanted them but he was like a surgeon trying to operate on a patient with a chainsaw instead od a knife.

Are you missing her point, which is to say, liberals resort to personal vilification/name calling to defend their treason? Coulter bringing up McCarthy, as I see it, is a way to make her point which is not necessarily defending him and is a valid way to make a point. I believe history has proven McCarthy, tho quite radical in his approach, was 100% right on.

America is dying a slow and agonizing death from within and that will continue un-abated until and unless we take back our schools to the local level.

She's breaking the rules set by liberals, and I think that needs to be done. Why is it McCarthyism to criticize Eric Foner, but it's OK to say that Bush is the kind of guy who drags blacks behind his pickup truck? Why is it OK to insist that all Republicans are racists, when for roughly a hundred years the Democrat Party was the party of slavery and racism? Bull Connor was a Democrat, and he typified the Democrats of his day.

Someone needs to confront the Big Lie that underlies all these distortions, and that's what Coulter is doing. She may not succeed, but it badly needs doing. We can't simply afford to concede the Democrats the moral high ground based on conformist lies.

And I think she's right to insist that McCarthyism is one of the Democrats' chief ideological tools for pushing their version of the Big Lie.

Hope Amazon will cough up my order soon.

Beauty and brains...a lethal combination. Libs beware, your house of cards are facing a fresh breeze. Gotta love her.

The loss of Barbara Olson, the other half of what was a very dynamic duo, makes Ann the most important(very female)voice crying in the media wilderness.

She's brilliant. She's dismantling all the straw demons that liberals have built to pillory conservatives for nearly a century.

McCarthy blew the whistle, like she said, and liberals fought like animals to shout him down. All Ann is doing is laying out the case that McCarthy was right.

Quayle and Perot are turning out to be right too, despite the characitures they've become. Quayle on family values, and Perot on jobs leaving the US.

It's people like Ann who are knocking the hysterical pegs out from under everything that a liberal holds ideologically dear.

interesting...the first word of this media essay:

"conservative".

for hillary's book did they write "liberal author...."?

everything in the mainstream media is written from the democrat point of odor.

I'm with you. Defending McCarthy, who was "right" in the way a stopped clock is right twice a day, is not a winning strategy.

Sorry, but substantial amounts of released documents have proven McCarthy's thesis to be correct beyond any shadow of a doubt. And this is going to continue to be corroborated in the future as more and more old KGB documents continue to be opened up.

The writing in this excerpt is heavily padded. It must be difficult filling a book with more meat than fat, but it is hard to keep the eyes stuck to the text here.

"America is dying a slow and agonizing death from within and that will continue un-abated until and unless we take back our schools to the local level."

Much agreement here.

The only way I'd modify what you say is that we should begin with our churches, if possible. That's where the moral spine starts. The communists took over the seminaries of the mainline denominations some 50 years ago and boasted about how easy the takeover was.

Without an unshakable "ground zero" of moral right and wrong to fall back on, our country is a sitting duck for takeover either from without OR within.

Apparently because it's right to criticize Forner, but Bush is not the type to drag blacks behind his pickup truck.....

Translate the phrase 'McCarthyism' to read 'correct and proper' and we can actually agree with them liberal nut cases.... as if....
