Typed, or handwritten....?..ballpoint OK..or must it be a fountainpen..or a goosequill?....
Reminds me parenthetically of the old baseball story about the time Ty Cobb got tossed ou of the first game of a double header for cussing at the umpire over a strike call..he comes up to bat in the second game...asks the umop if he can get tossed out for thinking...the ump says no...OK says Cobb.. I THINK you're a ^&^%&(*^$##%&(_!!!!!! and so's your momma...

Points system in undergrad is unconstitutional. Law school is that race CAN be a factor of consideration....there were NO points attached to the law school 'consideration'.The racist undergraduate admission method employing a point system is at least honest and upfront in its aims. The law school's method is no less racist and just as damaging--perhaps more so.
What SCOTUS has told the schools is, be as racist as you'd like. Just don't leave a clear record.
It's like ruling that it is cruel and unusual punishment to beat a prisoner to death with a single swipe of a lead pipe, but beating him to death over several hours with a rubber hose is okay.

Notice how those briefs fail to argue that racial diversity is NOT a compelling governmental interest (as Ted Olson had wanted them to do.)
To: arasina
The striking down of a point system should be important. How else can colleges continue to evaluate and rate candidates without their point systems? As a result they will NOT be able to consider race as a factor IF they continue to use a point system.
This is VERY good news.

and most importantly how this ruling was decided by the PresidentDon't forget Todd said that Bush COULD decide the SC decision.

BUSH had NOTHING to do with this decision! Wanna express your rage? Call your damn Congressman and Senator and tell them to support the President's nominee's to the USSC and Appeals court and Circuit Courts!
Quit bitching and get off your butt and try and help change what you don't like.
"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes." - Charles Swindoll

Luis, I think I love you. :-) Actually, I love how you come up with the perfect reply nearly 100 percent of the time. Are you an attorney? Could we get you nominated to the Supreme Court perhaps?

I'll remember that race can be a factor when I hire someone.
"Sorry, but your college credentials means less to us due to the fact that you might have been accepted to college due to your race and not your academic achievements. You may also have very well been given a pass due to the color of your skin, and we are only accepting smart, educated people, not people having been given a pass."
Translation of the courts: If you are not white, you are too stupid to be accepted into college on your own merits.

I haven't read the opinion yet but this first strikes me as a dual edge sword. This could mean white only or black only or red only (or male only, gender will be next) law schools will be legal.
