Thank you for sharing that poignant story of your little one. Blessed are the little ones for they have been so recently in His presence before coming to us.

I have often marveled at that. Her first four pregnancies occured under very trying and stressful circumstances. If I had gone through what she had, I would have tried my hardest to avoid getting pregnant again, and would have been saddened and frightened by the prospect of another premature birth. Thank goodness she is stronger than I... otherwise I wouldn't be here, nor would my younger sister. :)

A cousin of mine had a baby who was exactly 1 lb at birth. Oh man. That's a miracle.
I was 2lb 15oz when I was born, and I was born almost 3 months early back in the 70's. I was known as the 'miracle baby' in my family.
To: admiralsn
The miracles of modern medicine. I was under 3lbs when I was born in the 70's. I've heard that I had a 10% chance, or a 90% chance. I made it, and I'm glad your's did too.

HOW did a big boy like you come from such small beginnings? :-)

HOW did a big boy like you come from such small beginnings? :-) Why, I'm sure the luck of the Irish came to the states. :)
That said, I ain't that big. My family avgs 6'2 in height(My dad's 6'4..lucky), and I'm a tiny 5'10. :), same as my mom's dad.
In all seriousness(Especially being the first of my generation), I think someone up above was looking out for me. I don't how I know this, and it sounds crazy. Something is planned out for me. I haven't figured out what that is yet(I believe I have cheated death once as well).

I was born two months early, 3 pounds even, in MI, too, BTW.
My mother had five children. My brother was the smallest, 2 lbs 12 oz. My baby sister the biggest 3 lbs 8 oz. We are all normal size, now. And, considering that we were born in the sixties and seventies, we were really lucky to survive. Medicine has come a long way, since then.

Probably even more so than I was. I was born in the late 70's.

Remember the McCoy septuplets? Everyone marveled over how premature they were, and how sick they were. My mother marveled that they were healthier than her five children were... she said that was because of the advance in medicine. Yes, those children were a miracle. And, my mother might even say that her five were miracles, too.

You're giving me flashbacks. We survived NICU, also. (My daughter was born at 28 weeks and exactly 2 lbs.) We were told everything that could go wrong but the hospital staff were great. I'll never forget the surfactant, the IVs, the incubator, the fear or the sound of that heart monitor going off every thirty minutes at night.
People can't believe that my very active daughter survived all of the problems she had at birth. She enjoys telling the story of how I could spin her around in the palm of my hand. We attend the NICU "graduates" events, too. God is good...

We have some amazing little ones in our neighborhood... The first was about 2 lbs born at 26 weeks, the second was about the same but born at 24 weeks.
These sisters(5 and 3) run around with all of the rest of the kids all day long. You would NEVER be able to pick them out.
I have always wondered about the "weeks". I know that the 40 week mark for full term is missleading since it actually includes the 2 weeks prior to conception. So when you are at "8 weeks" .. the conception really happened 6 weeks prior.
When people are talking about the age of the baby in weeks(as in.. the baby was born at 26 weeks) is it based on the 40 week full term idea or a 38 week gestation... always wonder how long these kiddos have been "Cookin'"
(similarly, I wonder when reading about abortion too)..

My area has a lot of good ones. My Congressman Mike Rogers is the first to come to mind. (Governor on 06!!!!....and I KNOW his chief of staff will kill me for saying that..[the local reps figured out who I was by my posts])
And yes, I'm thinking about going for an open seat in 2008 or (more likely) 2014.
I think it's bigger than that though. I know I have a talent in this area, but something bigger than running for an office..I don't know what though.
It ain't Senator, Governor or President though. You couldn't pay me to be any of those and I don't have the right temperment to win. I swear too much, and am about as blunt as Truman.

I saw an old picture of my mom back when I was born. I didn't even see myself in that same pic. My mom isn't big either.
My dad's hands are the same size as mine. I fit in his hand when I was born. 15in.
