Some think that Democrats, chastised by the loss of the presidency of 2000 and the loss of the Senate in 2002, have learned the risk of supporting gun control the hard way. Some even argue that there is a more fundamental change in Democratic beliefs on gun control.

As always, they are like snakes in the winter who hole up only to come out in the spring to bite and spread their poison.

Bush is no friend to a gun owner if he can get two anti-gunners to vote for him instead.

The gun control issue will never be over with the Democrats until they have stripped every single privately owned firearm from Americans who do not support their horrid ideals.

Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi (search) recently said, Democrats (search) will wait and revisit the guns “when the issue is ripe.”

Ms. Pelosi added that, "We are busily prescribing Ritalin and Paxil for all male high school students in the Columbine district."

When asked to show where in the Constitution firearms not for "sporting purposes" were banned, Democrats refused comment.

Miss Pelosi? At this range?

You think I am wrong? What if by hook or by crook the Rats manage to get the AW Ban Law extended and expanded and passed in the House and Senate? Bush has already indicated that he would sign it! I know that he expects and desperately hopes that check will never be cashed but why would he anger the very same gun owners that put him in office?

Hasn't he learned that gun control is a losing bet?

I get tired of this nickel and dime crap of having my rights whittled away a little at a time. I am ready for an Atlas Shrugged scenario. Give the #$*&# communist bastards EVERYTHING they want and watch while it crumbles down around their ears and kill the sunzabitches that caused it in the first place and get rid of them once and for all.

"When those who survive, pry it from my cold dead hands.........it will be EMPTY!"

You and Chuck Heston with his muzzleloader.

I actually am glad you're on board with this attitude and don't mean to mock you or Chuck.

The survivors will be the ones with the guns, and that shoot first. The quicker we take down the loudest grabbers, the less of them will have to perish. A good offense is the best defense. We can't just wait for them to come for us.

Bingo!!!

The Democrat Party has become the party of victimhood. Send them your whining, your disposessed, and they'll see what they can get 'em in exchange for their votes.

If votes were personal posessions, and this were on a smaller scale, it would be decried as a cult, which it is: The Cult of Victimhood.

They only wish more would surrender concience for the promise of concessions from the 'priveleged', cash in self-respect for 'esteem', and exhalt those, the sisters and bretheren, who will pillage the rights and coffers of those who 'have' to support those who will not.

And thus, they would make victims of us all.

If I do say so myself, my book is better, and much more applicable to today. It should be available by late summer at the outside.

When did Bush ever say he would sign the expanded version of the AWB? I know he's said he'd sign an extension of the existing one, but IIRC he said he "supports existing laws, but no new ones".

Those that control public opinion run this nation. They never have to hold an office to be in total control.
And the mantra is always...work within the system to change the laws.
Given your most astute depiction of today's political world I've got one question (not necessarily for you)...
How the hell is someone supposed to work within the system to "change the laws" when "that simple task" will never work.
"Change the laws" my foot! Some people just don't get it.
