Earlier this week one of Mrs. Clinton's millionaire friends hosted a book party for her best-selling screed "Living History" at his elaborate Maryland mansion. But instead of giving her book away, Mrs. Clinton had cash registers and credit card machines ready to ring up hundreds of new sales.

My question is did she charge the sales tax on each book sold. Maryland does have a sales tax of 5% and you must have a sales and use tax license when selling in Maryland.
Did Hillary have a sales and use tax license?

Isn't that the point of having a book party? TO invite all your friends and give away free copies of your book?

Betcha that you will never find out. But they can close down a small girl selling lemonade. Just remember: The Klintoons are immune from any laws. And George W. Bush made sure of that also...Your "Two-Party Cartel" at what it does best.

I'll paste this from the other thread ;-)
I am sure her gaggle of lawyers would handle the sales tax issues. BUT, and I don't know what the laws are in maryland, if they were making 'retail' sales out of a home (mansion) would they not have to have a city, county license?
If someone runs an internet online business do they not have to have a business license?

You would have to ask the person actually selling them, whether or not they had already paid taxes on the books. Probably not.

You have a really good question, but do you really think Hillary cares about sales tax? They spent 8 years breaking every law in the book.

I don't know if this is just an East coast thing, or maybe just a big city thing, but I have been into both Borders and Barnes and Noble this week here in the Northeast suburbs of Chicago and I looked for her book -- and couldn't find it!!! I just wanted to see the big displays that I had heard about. Nope. So I looked in the hardback best seller section. Nope. So I looked all over up front -- couldn't find it at all. Now, I didn't actually want to buy the darn book, so I didn't ask any of the "sales associates" where it was, but still -- kind of makes me wonder if I am living in a separate reality here.

Do they float, out there in Lake Michigan, or are they resting peaceably at the bottom of the lake?

I just checked Amazon. Hillary is at #5, Ann C #3.While I am happy that Ann is number 3, I am quite disturbed that Hillary is number 5, and worse, more then half the people that have been polled, on every single show, believe that the book is more then half fiction, including people who like her. Even NYC news polls found that more then half the people think that she is going to lie in the book, and these people voted for her, for gods sakes.
