[history]
After years of butting heads with the Republican Party, conservative Alan Keyes (search) said the GOP has no clue how to engage black voters, a key constituency that can be won over on the issues, but not with empty campaign promises or race-baiting.

Helms was one of the very senators who tried to fight the ongoing enslavement of black Christians in the Sudan. Of course, the left simply refuses to acknowledge the existence of this montrosity as it might offend their new-found Islamic allies.

Correction: Helms was one of the very few senators.

I'm assuming exsoldier is correctly interpreted to mean you served in our mighty military. If so, thank you for your sacifice. Thank your family also.
I pray that God will anoint your mind and lips so that you can give these children a way to SEE the facts. That is a big challenge today; with so many forms of liberal media and artist trying to sway and influence young minds. Have them find out why the Democrat policy is NOT good for minorities and the working class.
As a child of the sixties I was taught to ask "WHY?" Or question the status quo. It comes in handy. Plus my husband was very good at helping me to see why the Democrat agenda (which I favored when I was younger) was not working and why they could never achieve what they claimed.
May God also give you that which you wish, the teaching job closer to home.
But, you must know that whenever you teach that which is opposite to liberal thinking you will get more than you bargained for.
Best of luck

(You can't convince a liberal of the facts...even if you smacked 'em in the face with it......)

GOP should stop pandering to blacks.I hate to say it, but the truth is, it has nothing to do with getting the black vote. Simply put, white moderates, centerists, and independents become more likely to vote republican when republicans campaign for the black vote. Its an indirect way of trying to make the middle vote for you, without you having to go to the middle.
Interestingly enough, these same groups become less inclined to vote democratic when democrats do the same thing. I.E. when a liberal seeks the black vote, it drives away the middle voters, but when republicans do it, it draws the middle voters.
This is the reason why in the 2000 elections Al Gore wasn't allowed to be seen with African Americans, secret service agents were rotated off of him, and he would not be photographed with african americans, while Bush grabbed every photo op under the son with minorities.
