All hospitals 'must permit euthanasia' [Slippery-slope alert from Belgium]

BRUSSELS — The right to euthanasia must exist in all hospitals, negotiators forming Belgium's new government said Friday in a move to counter opposition by some Catholic hospitals that have allegedly refused to permit assisted suicide on their premises.

The negotiators, who are forming a government after the 18 May general elections, have laid down that every hospital must have a team of doctors prepared to apply euthanasia, under a strict policy designed to protect patients and their relatives. Euthanasia was made legal, under certain conditions, in Belgium last year.

Doctors will be given a protected status for performing euthanasia.

The chairman of the Flemish liberal VLD party, Karel De Gucht said euthanasia is the business of a doctor and a patient, and that hospitals should not interfere.

In February a doctor who carried out euthenasia on a terminally ill cancer patient in a Catholic hospital was dimissed by managers who accused him of not following the legal correct proceedure by the hospital management and dismissed. The doctor denied that he had disobeyed the law.

This will bring the government smack up against the Catholic hierarchy, I would guess. Abortion took the Church by surprise, during the period when dissenters and dissenting bishops were riding high. But in America at least the papacy has clamped down on permitting Catholic hospitals to perform abortions or euthanasia and so far has pretty well held the line.

If necessary, I expect Catholic hospitals will simply shut down.

I read somewhere recently (I will try to find a source, I know that most lies on the net begin exactly thus) that something like 80% of euthanasia in the Netherlands is involuntary. That next-of-kin or doctors are giving instructions for euthanasia even when the patient is competent and not agreeable.

As I said, I will endeavor to find a source.

I had my numbers backward. It turns out that 20% are involuntary and 80% are voluntary. Still, that 20% figure is about 20% too high, IMHO. Given the frequency of euthanasia in The Netherlands, this adds up to over 6000 people.

You are correct. I've seen credible sources for this myself. Let me know if you can't find them, I might have the pages archived.

I have also heard of cases of involuntary euthanasia in the Netherlands. In one case, a doctor evidently killed somebody's parent without seeking permission from the family because he (the doctor) was going on vacation and didn't want to leave any loose ends behind.

This is why we needed conscientious objector laws for doctors in the U.S. Pro-choice=pro-coercion.

Hitler fined tuned his death camps by killing off the mentally and physically ill. I will look and see if I can find the name of the book I found this information in.

Wow, a kid will tell his or her mother - "Mom, I want to be a Doctor-Executioner when I grow up."
"That's nice, dear."

Can you imagine the new required courses at medical school?

Scott Lively has a small book about this. His website is: http://www.abidingtruth.com/

Belgium and the NL (along with France) are basically "dead countries walking" that will have majority muslim populations in the not-too-distant future. The most popular boy's name being registered at Amsterdam and Brussels city halls today is "Mohammad".

This is the end of religious freedom. The homosexual, abortionists, and now the euthanizers want to force everyone to behave as they do, and stamp out any right to oppose them.

This all puts me in mind of the man who is single-handedly killing NYC--literally.

Upon taking office, the mayor of NYC made good on his promise to make abortion training mandatory for residents in all NYC hospitals. Those opposed could still opt out. It seems not enough were elcting to learn the latest killing techniques.

Bloomberg's plan also calls for an end to assigning Medicaid-eligible women to managed-care plans that do not provide abortion and other reproductive health care.

It seems the city can recoup the cost of this program by streamlining the "procedure" so more women can be serviced in the city hospitals.

Sick.

I cry for our country and for Europe and the world.

I seem to remember that "Hillarycare" would have made abortion-training for doctors in medical schools mandatory, since fewer doctors want to "practice" abortion.
