Like many Americans, I am surprised that we have yet to locate the weapons of mass destruction that all of us, Republican and Democrat, expected to find immediately in Iraq. But do critics really believe that Saddam Hussein disposed of his weapons and dismantled weapons programs while fooling every major intelligence service on earth, generations of U.N. inspectors, three U.S. presidents and five secretaries of defense into believing he possessed them, in one of the most costly and irrational gambles in history?

Discovering the truth about Iraqi weapons is important, securing Iraq's democratic future even more so. This will be the final measure of our victory, not how many gallons of anthrax we find.Well said, Senator.

I've said this before about McCain:
While he's often more a hinderance than a help, when he actually goes to bat for the team he quite often hits one OUT OF THE PARK!
To: Pokey78
This partially makes up (just partially) for the Daschle summit for which we Arizonans royally FReeped him.

I agree with what you've said about McCain. I think that it actually boils down to this: If his ego is not on the line, he's a team player.

The problem with McCain is there's no consistency. He's says one thing one day, the opposite the next. More like he puts his finger up to the wind and says whatever it takes to help John McCain's career.
To: Reaganwuzthebest
McCain is very consistent. He was and is a hawk, and has moved gradually left on many domestic issues. I hope that helps.

McCain is very consistent... Not on all issues. A few years ago he talked about how immigration laws should be enforced and the border closed. Now he's pushing amnesties and guest worker programs. One day he's for the military on the border, the next he isn't.
He is consistent on one issue though... he hates the First Amendment. And I'm beginning to think the Second one as well.

Holy s--t. McCain sounds like a Republican in this article. Someone administer the smelling salts to me.

Well said, Sen. McCain.

John is doing his Lon Chaney disgise trick again - Dim-Republican-Dim-Republican...I never know what to think of him any more.
Seems it should suffice to say that anyone who actually believes there are/were no WMD in Iraq is stupid, naive, or stupidly naive. Anyone who tries to question whether or not they exist(ed) for political gain is just plain despicable and (yes, I have to say it) Anti-American and unpatriotic...

That was exactly my reaction too. LOL
"It is too early to declare final victory in Iraq. But we're well past the point of knowing that our war to liberate Iraq was right and just. The discovery of mass graves filled with the bodies of murdered children should have convinced even the greatest skeptic. We made America more secure, liberated millions from a reign of terror and helped create the prospect for the establishment of the first Arab democracy. That should make Americans proud -- and critics of the administration's decision to go to war a little more circumspect."

Not really.

If Saddam didn't have them, then pre-emption worked like it suppose to against the bad guys. If had them, then pre-emption was too late, but since he didn't use them, prevention worked just fine.
