I've got news for you Liz: You don't have to be a democrap to be a sexual predator in the New York State Capital. I worked in the State Assemby for thirteen years -- first as an intern during college, next as a legislative aide in law school, then as a part time-counsel to a member of the assembly, and finally, as a part-time counsel to a member of the senate. During the orientation week for interns, the women actually had to attend a lecture on how to fend off sexual advances from members of the senate and assembly and their senior staff, who could make your life hell if they chose. To the best of my knowledge, however, the members and their staff were never lectured about preserving their marital vows or keeping their hands off the interns and junior staff.
As an intern and legislative aide, I was a regular attendee at the weekly parties sponsored by lobbyists and other organizations seeking favor from the legistative members (I only went because they served my favorite food and drink -- free), and as a result, I got to see these jerks in action. I can recall one party where a well-known, middle aged, married at the time, Republican assemblyman had a 20 year old intern pinned against a wall between his outstretched arms. She looked extremely uncomfortable, so I stood nearby, just in case she was unable to break loose, and heard the assemblyman ask her as he stared into her breasts, "We've met before haven't we?" The young lady replied, "No, I don't think so." He replied, "You don't remember me? It was 2000 years ago, you were Cleopatra, and we met along the Nile River." At that point, he started stroking her hair, which is when I jumped in and said, "Hi honey, ready to go." She grabbed my hand and mouthed "thank -you" as we walked away from the cad. Outside the party, we exchanged names for the first-time and even dated for a while...
Not around here, my friend, because many of us are unwilling or unable to admit that the Pubs also have their share of low-life scum (although the democraps continue to maintain a clear advantage in that department). Although I also feel a lot more comfortable among Pubs (even the Log Cabin Boys are respectful), you can't beat the democraps for pure entertainment value.
I'm assuming Boxley didn't.
There's plenty of room for healthy skeptism, since some date rap charges seem to be the result more of buyer's remorse than any actual physical coercion. But it does happen. If I was on a jury and it was a case of he-said/she-said, I'd have to let the guy off. (I remember one case in New Hampshire where a guy was serving time for rape when the woman recanted.) If there is physical evidence, say bruising or drugs in the victim however, that's a different ballgame. The take away message is that women need to be careful whom they go out with (you knew that). That doesn't mean you can never prove rape, just that it's very hard to prove.
In other words, "Better put some ice on that." What a prince.
In my wilder days (when I was young and foolish, I acted young and foolish), a woman who just layed there was called a dead-f***. Hooking up with such a lady was not desirable.
I guess you've never read the WOD threads, the Creation v. evolution threads, the objectivism threads, etc. etc. etc.
Scum like Boxley are probably pretty inadequate in the sexual performance department. The comatose and unconscious aren't going to complain alot if the guy lacks the talent or effort to take care of her first.
