I'm hoping everyone here realizes this. Its good to vote for sharpton for the nomination, its good to get him support, but it is ABSOLUTLEY STUPID to send him any money.

He is using that money to register more and more voters, who will vote democrat, his funds have basically 2 purposes, to register more democratic voters, and to develop a large get out to vote network for election day, and if possible, get party donors.

We all know he is going to lose in the primary, and so does he, but he can do alot of damage with this pure lefty democratic network that he is looking to establish right now for the party in terms of registering his kind of voters, getting them to the polls, and creating fundraising lists. If he can just register a huge block of numbers and have a ready to go "get out to vote" machine ready for election day, the democratic party, if they were to win, would be beholden to him.

Of course everyone here realizes this - but the longer he stays in the race, the more he plays spoiler for the other candidates. It's like the old (and politically incorrect) joke: "Hire the handicapped, it's fun to watch 'em work."

During the 2000 campaign the wife and I sent a little $$ to Nader, since we figured he's siphon votes from Algore. For the same reason, we're thinking of sending some $$ to Al, but my stomach churns at the thought of being on his mailing list.

See post 10. Do not send him money.

In 2002 Nader did ciphon votes away from al gore, the problem, was that all the freak greenies didn't vote green up and down, everywhere else they voted Rat. Something like more then 40% of his idiot voters were not going to vote at all in that election. He used his donations to register greenies and get them to the polls.

Part of the reason he wouldn't drop out and or endorse gore, was he felt that since he put in so much work registering people, and he had set up a get out to vote network, the least Gore could have done was acknowledge him.

Gore on some stupid advice, would not even say his name, and when he did, at the end, did so disparagingly. Long story short, Nader has a king size ego.

Hey, I want him to stay in the race and make a fool out of the party, the man is despised, but alot of people do not realize what he is doing with his money. He isn't spending it on advertising.

Alot of freepers are guessing that him getting money gets a higher profile for him, it doesn't, its just enlarging the dem voting pool.

Logically, he's assuming that with a good showing, and a large pool of voters, he moves up in power, but his goal is to get somthing like more then 2 million more democrats onto the party rolls and into the voting booth on election day, and his campaign funds are how he is going to do that.

75,000 new bicycles, centerpiece of the new Al Sharpton economic stimulus plan
Metro

ORANGEBURG -- Bringing his unconventional presidential campaign to Orangeburg, the Rev. Alfred C. Sharpton said Saturday evening that only "a political movement of grassroots people" can defeat George W. Bush.

An audience in the dozens frequently applauded Sharpton as he called for constitutional amendments guaranteeing the right to health care, education and free carwashes for rappers who drive Escalades.

"If we can give free health care to zoo animals, we can give it to the millions of children who visit those zoos," Sharpton insisted.

"Bush wants to give tax cuts to the rich while we have states with deficits and folks like me with mounting credit card debt…My debt is your debt. We’re all in debt together” he said.

“West Virginia, Colorado and Florida should contribute their fair share and help pay for California’s $43billion deficit. Oregon, Idaho and Montana, you need to help New York. And how are you going to allow Arizona taxpayers' to keep their money and they ain't got no money in Massachusetts ?" Sharpton asked.

He asked people not to think of themselves as individuals, but to look at the overall big picture. “We need to help those who make bad decisions or are less inclined to work for a living” said the reverend.

“If you donated that Mercedes Benz to the gov’mint, we could afford to pass out 75,000 bicycles to people who don’t have any transportation.”

In Orangeburg, Sharpton's message resonated well.

"He made a lot of key points," said Rhonda Tyler of Aiken. "I believe him. I think he's going to do great work and he should be elected president of the United States.

"He's got my vote," said a radio personality Yo'Girl D.L. "I agree with a lot of the things he said. If you've got money to send overseas to help those starving children, what about the ones right here? We've got kids starving in Orangeburg. We got homeless here. We need somebody to look out for us right here."

"This is a new era, and Al is a new Democrat." And he's got the best "name recognition" among the Democrats, City Council Member Trelvis Miller said.

See post 10. Do not send him money.

DO however go to Dem and Lib sites and sign up to get on the mailing lists. THEN use the "postage paid " return envelope to mail the organizations empty, useless dummy donations or if you really want to screw them, mail them BRICKS with the envelope taped on them, they guaranteed the postage, and you tie up their staff.
