I also like a bunch of 80's music.

Like what?

This is an editorial by Jonah Goldberg. Sometimes things are actually what they seem. Read it again as if an actual conservative wrote it. And take off that tinfoil skullcap.

As for the baggy pants during the 90s, I went to a nerd high school in NYC

Stuyvesant? I thought you were a Florida boy (as in "Lauderdale Sentinal"), but you are indeed way too smart to be a "Floridiot."

BTW: As far as Springsteen being a "regular guy," he frequently disses his hometown of Freehold as being a "redneck" town. I'm sure he really hates living among all those Wall Streeters in Rumson!

it would be interesting to know what percentage of Republicans are actually familiar with the operations of a "bong."

All I need is two Bic pens, a piece of tinfoil, some tape and a beer bottle.

College conservatives have learned that by acting like everybody else, they can sway their peers and become the most influential political act on campus."

The article, by John Colapinto, is full of observations like this one: "Today, most campus conservatives who hope to be effective won't dress like George Bush or Dick Cheney. The idea is to dress like a young person."

This just proves that liberals are the ones so into stereotypes. Where have these idiots been? I was not a conservative when I was 18(in 88), but I knew a number of young people who were and *gasp* they dressed like everyone else! It was actually the liberals I knew who would buck the "system" and could not dress appropriately for certain occasions.
Sigh, I guess I'd better go and put on my polo shirt and chinos now so I'll fit in to this writers pigeon hole;-)

BTW, I reject this fool's notion that conservatives somehow do this to "fit in" and blend in to get their points across. I can not think of one person who is conservative who purposefully gets up in the morning and says--I'm wearing a peasant shirt and hiphuggers so all the young libs will think me hip and talk to me. Good grief!

LOL--BTDT, I was just a few years ahead of you when the Chili Peppers still played small venues and The Cure was the thing! Oops, guess I didn't fit into the notch the lefties have for me. I have a tattoo too--*gasp*.

Just for the sake of the advance of cultural anthropology, it would be interesting to know what percentage of Republicans are actually familiar with the operations of a "bong."

Probably a lot more than what most people think. Some of the hardest of the Hard Corps Republicans (big R) I know smoke weed. They have to, I suppose, in order to keep themselves from violently lashing out at the bravo sierra-spouting "progressives" and their totalitarian agenda.

Reminds me of something I read a couple of years ago about the new generation of "gun-toting, pot-smoking Republicans."

Just for the record, the psychiatric and neurological "dopamine" medications used for Parkinson's and depression do something rather similar to what Canabis does. They are legal and in widespread use.

I'm not a smoker, but have observed the phenomenon of the laid-back conservative Hemp smokers. It would be interesting to know the percentage of Republicans who voted for Reagan who have liberal ideas on decriminalization (like Buckley). For cancer and AIDS patients, Canabis does offer some relief. Personally, I have no problem with the "medical use" angle. I did here a rumor that Maryland's Republican governor supports "medical use."

There was no particular band I liked, just a bunch of hit songs that I enjoy listening to a lot. Still, I like Men at Work, Genesis, and Mike and the Mechanics, but I love music from the 60s and 70s the most.

Yup. Stuyvesant High School. I'm a New Yorker . . . probably forever.

No rumor there. Governor Bob Ehrlich (R) does support some use of marijuana for medical use.
