While many fear the U.S. and the thought of pre-emption, it is worth noting that the EU countries are not re-arming in the face of overwhelming US military strength.

The same cannot be said of our "friend", Russia.

" .. from San Juan Hill to Bag[h]dad America has sought no empire. As Colin Powell said, we asked only for a place to bury our dead. Go sell your Mist to the three thousand children who died every month until Saddam was deposed. Go sell your wares in Afganistan where people can breathe again. Peddle your smarmy crap to the Muslims of Jugoslavia who were not ethnically cleansed. And then bring back the crown and sceptre of our empire as proof of your point. " -- nathanbedford

Colin Powell appeaaled to the UN for a war into and about Iraq using lies based upon lies and spread about with ten year old information. The UN and the world scorned him for his pathetic eloquence.

And you sit there behind your computer signing on to his rubbish about America's military machine taking over the world to save us here on American soil? Give me a break.

America just established a new "benchmark" for herself ... it is called "pre-emptive" war.

Yep. Its part of the Bush doctrine. Instead of offering to build Nuclear plants with taxpayer money to rogue states, its cheaper to eliminate the rogue element. Safer, too.

Your regard for America's military strength is inversely proportional to your love about our individual liberties; in short, you want a police state and you call this plague, "patriotism.".

"empire..." - show me where we have conquered territories and remained in de facto control there against the will of the local populace?

"American hypocritical international interventionalist foreign policy..." - Inconsistent, yes. Immature, certainly. Said qualifications (and other disparaging comparisons...) applicable after 9/11??? No. About the only common factor that still exists after 9-11 as it did before??? Moral terpitude and cowardice such as is displayed by you.

America - Thank G-D for my Country - is not perfect. You Leftist scum have gotten used to comparing America to perfection in order to ping on our faults, and never acknowledge our strengths. Then you view the consternation that your (well versed and intellectually sounding...) accusations appear to have upon the good people of this land, and you rejoice, thinking you make us weaker.

But I've got news for you, Pendejo... short of Divine Intervention, America is the last, best Hope for mankind. No other Nation has done more for others than our own!

And don't even think for a second that this is an attempt to "justify" or "defend" my country -- My Country doesn't have to explain Jack-SH*T to anyone, but merely point to numerous hallowed cemetaries in far-flung places like France, England, Tunisia, and many others. My Country takes the time to develop the kind of weaponry that can actually save civilian lives in a war.

My country... man, instead of writing it down for a peep like you, how about you just come out of your closet, choose another country, any country!!! Hell... how about choosing any THREE other countries, and let's compare our records on any issue and see how we stack up against each other? Waddayasay??? Man enough to put your rocks where your words are?

Does our President serve the UN and the interests of Europe? I suppose you would prefer a president more pliable to the demands of the United Nations and the people of foreign nations?

I don't see freedom at home and freedom abroad as mutually exclusive. You sound like a lawyer for the ACLU. Go tell it to the prisoners at gitmo.

I want a police state for our enemies. I want to see them destroyed. This is what I call patriotism.

You miss the point, entirely. We pay the world to have America as their body guards; we do it through your kind tax dollar stolen by the government spreading American government because of national security.

Which Bush are you referring to? The one that aided Saddam Hussein with his WMD back before the Gulf War?

You really hate Bush, dont you? How did the first Bush aid in getting WMD for Iraq?

I see. That's why here in America we have the USA Patriot Act (the formal establishment of America's police state); even this isn't enough for Ashcroft as he wants complete dictatorial powers.

He was in cohoots with Donald Rumsfeld during Reagan's administration aiding Iraq against Iran in the 1980s. It was all CIA inspired meddleing creating the problems we face today.

Sure, just like we helped bin Laden and the Mujahedin in Afghanistan. I guess you would have preferred Afghanistan become a "Soviet Socialist Republic."

I am glad that today Iraq is controlled by U.S. troops rather than Iranian Jihadis.

The topic we were discussing is the opposition of Axis of Weasels against our war on terrorists and the rogue nations which support them.

I know you'd really like to change the focus to the Patriot Act and the debate about it, but the two really have nothing to do with each other. If you are on France, Russia, and China's side against America, just say so.

But that is a lesson the Europeans - despite their experience with Nazism, fascism, and communism - refuse to learn. Which is why the gulf between us is only going to widen we can neither trust them nor depend on them

Bush, Rumsfeld and the CIA forced Saddam to feed innocents into wood chippers and imprison 5 year old kids? The abovementioned also forced the Hussein regime to use rape as a subjugation tool? The war was just. The monster is deposed. And I am comfortable with the way it went down. Im assuming you feel we should have let the UN or the French free the Iraqi people? No one else would. In the 21st century, the planet is too small to let monsters like saddam run amok.
