The FRN "Freeps Ahoy" Cruise aboard the Carnival Cruise Triumph arrived back in Miami this morning.
No SARS, No Norwalk, No Terrorism - just a hell of a lot of fun, food and sun!
As the first cruiser back at his computer, I have the honor of starting this thread and posting the above pic, which was taken at the foot of the staircase descending into the "London Room", which was the dining room each evening for our Freeper Contingent.

I've gone over the name tag list and the notes of this group photo. I hope I didn't leave anyone out.
Interesting Times, the Chairman of the Free Republic Network was aboard with his wife and two totally enchanting crumb crunches.
He gave a concert just for us in a shipboard salon. Seated at the piano with a mike at his lips, he both played and sang contemporary tunes, included a great song he wrote himself.
Near the end of this riveting musicale, he sang and played a moving rendition of "God Bless the USA". Let me tell you, it brought the waterworks to my eyes.
We've said it before, and I'll say it again, freepers are so talented in so many ways.
Billy Joel, move over....Interesting Times is ready for the lights of Broadway!

That's also sound advice when visiting over at DU.com
I've heard rumours that IT sings really, really well - as does his wife - but WHOTCSOTC!
;-)
I know you and Barry stayed home because I was going on this cruise, you missed a great time!

Yea, that's it! LOL! We really, really wanted to go again...
Some awful, some bewildering, LOTS good, much extraordinary - this cruise was a microcosm of life its ownself. This Texas country boy has had the time of his life.
When and where? I'm already dreaming about it...
Sorry we couldn't make this one (our son graduated from college around the time of the cruise - had lots of west coast relatives visiting here). I hope we can make the next cruise.
The group photo is great! Looking forward to more pics.

Sailing
Takes me away
To where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free
Fantasy
It gets the best of me
When I'm sailing
All caught up in the reverie
Every word is a symphony
Won't you believe me
It's not far back to sanity
At least it's not for me
And when the wind is right you can sail away
And find serenity
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me
Thank you Christopher Cross for encapsulating much of what I felt this past week.
Wonderful that you had a successful trip.
Oh the year was 2003
(How I wish I was back there right now)
Some tickets came from Wanda Frecks, to the gaudiest vessel youd ever suspect
(chorus)
God d**n them all, I was told, wed cruise the seas for casino gold.
Wed pet some rays, drink some beers
Im a broken man on a Texas pier, the last of strelas privateers.
Well, Bahama Mama cried the group
(How I wish I was back there right now)
39 brave men and women who would make for her the Freeper crew
(chorus)
The Triumphs bulk was an awesome sight
(How I wish I was back there right now)
She had 5 pools and gourmet food, and the bars and casino for those late-night jags.
(chorus)
On May 31 we put to sea
(How I wish I was back there right now)
We were 2 whole days to Cozumel cay, drinkin like madmen all the way.
(chorus)
On the third day we sailed again
(How I wish I was back there right now)
When a bloody great island hove in sight, on Grand Cayman we prepared to light.
(chorus)
Seven Mile Beach lay low down with sand
(How I wish I was back there right now)
Oh my kite flew high and my heart gave a leap, but it ended up in the briny deep
(chorus)
And at length we stood from Jamaica, eh!
(How I wish I was back there right now)
Our crack fall climbers made a game of Dunns, but it ended up makin short work of me
(chorus)
I sloshed and gurgled like a drowning rat
(How I wish I was back there right now!)
Well my abs were smashed into Silly Putty and the rapids carried off me dignity
(chorus)
So here I write in me 43rd year
Its been 7 days since we sailed away, and I want to go back yesterday
(chorus)
