I honestly don't think that Schwartzenegger could possibly afford to take a 15 million dollar a year pay cut from a cushy job as a mega movie star to take over the reigns of a bankrupt third-world state like California. What's in it for him, really?

First off, that industry that pays him that 15 mil/year salary is headquartered there.

Secondly, think Ronald Reagan. Yes, I know Ahnuld isn't a native-born US citizen.

Who was it in public life that referred to someone else as a "Horrid Little $hit", circa 1980??

I just can't recall. (It wasn't re Perot.)

I've heard the phrase applied to Elton John by more than one source.

I always figured it'd make a pretty good name for a rock band.

You mean to tell me that the DNC could have a dirt file a foot thick on Dr. Rice...but nothing on Arnold? Who are they trying to kid?

All the Dems would need is the old tape that aired on the *Playboy Channel* of about 15 minutes worth of Arnold at Karnival in Rio, back from around his *Pumping Iron* days circa 1976, I believe. The boy was just completely sloshed; he was in in public in a restaurant type environment w/ another guy, and they were thoroughly enjoying themselves, grabbing up the near nekkid wimmen walking by the table, and hoisting them up on his shoulders, facing toward him, burying his face; pretty darn funny watching him drunk and just having a naturally good time, completely unlike any Arnold you're used to, cussing and laughing. If not too much further over the top than some bachelor parties, neither would it be real likely to win him a whole lot of support from the self-professed devout biblethumpers, various women's libbers or maybe eventually, those with particularly high standards about who gets to play with the US military nuclear launch cookie package authentication codes.

Still, the possibility of President Terminator [hey, what a great Secret Service radio callsign!] offers some swell opportunities for campaign slogans and a presidential portrait.

He's not America-born; he can't be President.

He can't be President now, under existing law. But if he becomes California's governor [quick, before the Mexicans take it back!] and gets the votes of a sizable number of the 10 million illegal aliens in this country, and a constitutional amendment is introduced and rubberstamped, it's at least conceivable, even without any possible 9th Circuit/ Supreme Court trickery, also possible.

Hmmmm? How come the "dirt" didn't come out when she was appointed by Bush - they threw dirt out there about everyone else.

I think you're right. Why should two Pubbie powerhouses take each other out when there are two Senate seats available, etc. As screwed up as the Rats have Kalifornia, neither Condi or Ahnold need to be fighting with each other.

Isn't DeShong what Wayne's World dudes say when they see Condi?

This attempt by the DNC to hold Arnold and Condi's coats while they fight will fail.

Arnold and Condi are more apt to be allies.

Dirt files are far inferior to mud wrestling, and we understand Camille Paglia is dying to mud wrestle Condi.

As for Loretta Sanchez, she'll look good in an orange jumpsuit one of these days.

My personal opinion is that this is simply the slime machine throwing mud by proxy, in the hopes that some conservatives will be willing to go with another, less Rat-threatening candidate.

I agree. Condi entered College very young. 15? 16? Someone in college at that age probably wont have any juicy skeletons in her closet. Just a typical baseless smear on perceived threats to liberals..

Well I guess Condi had better write a book to get her dirt out of the way now. /sarcasm

Because, knocking someone off a high perch is more fun to watch than off a low perch. NSA is a low perch compared to the heights Condi will likely reach in the next 5 years. Dems are just waiting for the right moment.

Probably is a LESBO file. Condi is unmarried and has no boyfriend. IF true it could backfire in California.

Rice is a talented woman and a great addition to the administration. However, around FR parts, for some reason she has gained an almost mythic stature.

Nobody is scared to death of running against Rice. She isn't an invincible juggernaut, no matter how many times it is repeated on Free Republic.

She'd be like Elizabeth Dole, but better-- and Dole beat Bowles in NC handily (and Bowles was not a throw-away candidate). Her margin of victory exceeded Helms' largest margin in 5 elections. Bowles spent $6M of his own money on the race and still only got 43% of the vote in a state that has one Dem US Senator and a near total lock on statewide offices for the Dems. Rice would have amazing appeal to men voters and would set records for support from single women by Republicans. I'm not talking about Rice being the secret to winning 50% of the black vote or something ridiculous like that. There are millions of professional women, married and unmarried, who would be very supportive of her candidacy across her state or the nation. Excluding her support for the RTKBA, she's a very good fit ideologically for most soccer moms everywhere. Rice would be an outstanding candidate regardless of what she ran for.

" ...he can't be Preseident "

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, says he did not do it for the "Terminator," but his proposed bill would allow foreign-born citizens such as actor Arnold Schwarzenegger to run for president of the United States.

"I believe the time has come to address the antiquated provision of the constitution that requires our president to be a natural-born citizen," said Hatch, according to the Herald News of Fall River, Mass. "It has long outlived its original purpose."

Hatch's bill, introduced last week, would allow anyone who has been a citizen of the United States for 20 years to run for the highest office.

The senator said it's "most disturbing" that "scores of foreign-born men and women who have risked their lives defending the freedoms and liberties of this great nation" are ineligible for the presidency, the Herald News reported.

Article II of the Constitution says, "No Person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of president."

Some scholars believe the Founding Fathers' prohibition still makes sense.

Forrest McDonald, a retired history professor, noted the crafters of the Constitution were aware that 15 years before the nation's founding, foreign operatives from Russia, Prussia and Austria tried to influence Poland's monarchy in an attempt to carve up the country between them, the Associated Press said.

McDonald also doesn't like Austrian-born Schwarzenegger, who is considering a run for governor of California.

"I'm scared of the man," McDonald told the AP.

Hatch insisted the bill is strictly public policy, with no ties to any individual.

The House has a similar bill that would require a foreign-born citizen to wait 35 years before running for president.

Raimundo Delgado of New Bedford, Mass., said he has been pushing for such an amendment for more than two decades.

"This is a historical step," he told the Herald News.

"We might be able to see this change in my lifetime," said Delgado, who testified on the issue before a congressional subcommittee.

Last year he supported a bill by Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., that failed to make it through the House Judiciary Committee.

Ever known a lib to show restraint? Play their cards with patience and wisdom?

1. Barbara Boxer waiting until two weeks before the Senate election in 1998 to dump info that Matt Fong donated to an anti-gay group.

2. Democrats waiting until 3 days before the 2000 election to report Bush's DUI arrest 25 years ago.
