I have been chewing over a very personal story about a very private person who is involved in a very public business and a very successful movie franchise.

To paraphrase a person who is better than I, these are the mometns that define us.

Unforunately these are the momnets that define the entertainment business overall.

Every indication I have that is Larry Wachowski is changing his sex.

Dressing in public as a woman, taking femal hormones and yes having a sex change operation.

Next question is if they are already married and one has "the operation" are they still legally married?

Dude, I have a cousin who is going through this same issue. I have tried so hard to have him change his mind and not mutilate himself.

I don't know the motive for this. He has never showed any homosexual tendencies, though he feels he has always been a girl. I don't like the idea of my cousin doing this, but he is my cousin. I don't talk to him anymore, only because our views are different, and we end up arguing. I don't live near him either, so looking at him doesn't disgust me. He is human, and he is still loved by God, no matter what he does to himself, wether I like it or not.

Sorry friend. I just get so tired of the way virtue is being downgraded. I can't understand what you're going thru. It must be hard to understand his motives. It's unfortunate he is making such a permanent decision. Good luck.

This not to you, but to everyone... You might as well extend this line of reasoning to the people who self mutilate themselves, putting nails through their lips, or ears, or self slice and cut themselves (or in my opinion, any of the goofy piercing beyond doing an earlobe.) God made us as He would have us. Any stupid thing we do to our bodies in the name of fashion (or because someone is "really a woman") is just stupid human arrogance, deciding that we are smarter than God. (The devil did that, and you know where it got him.)

IMHO, the saddest thing in this is that treating it like a legitimate "life choice" makes the next poor bugger consider that it is OK to do, and so instead of getting counseling for a "software fix" to overcome their gender identity failure, they go out and get a "hardware fix" to the problem.

If you grow up in a home environment that lacks a real father or mother figure, where a parent has their own rage, or alcohol, or drug, or authoritarian, or low self-esteem problem, you grow up with bad software. This self hatred can manisfest in your own alcohol, food, sex, or drug addictions. I grew up in a home where there was very little emotion, where the rules changed with the situation, where very little supportive was said. The solution was to look to God as my father figure; God sets healthy boundries to keep me safe, loves me more than I love myself, and is wiser than I am. I gave up my "stinkin thinkin" with the aid of counseling, and dumped most of my self-destructive behavior. God loves me; How can I avoid loving myself. Today, I am told by others that I am a wonderful Dad, and I have an emotional closeness with my wife and family that my family of origin never had.

When I found out that my own internal software was flawed, I could have "patched" it with my own wisdom...I did for years, with food, drink and other self-proscribed "self-medication." But I came to a point that I realized that whatever code I could self-generate was flawed. Rather than build a house on sand, I looked to a greater Father...and found out that I was loved beyond what I had ever experienced.

You are who God made you. Along the way, you can get poor software support. The solution is not trying to re-invent yourself in your own wisdom, but to allow God to restore you to be who He made you.

Wrong again! Anyone who lives their life as a different sex than what shows in every chromosome in their body is mentally ill, period! It is called Gender Identity Disorder.

if 1 member of a gay couple has a sex change operation, can they then get legally married in a state with no same-sex marriage laws?

IIRC, there have been all sort of weird cases in the news.

For example, a male-turned-into-female tries to marry a man, and it #1 is not allowed because the state uses chromosomes to determine who is male or female; therefore it #1 cannot marry a man.

Then a few months later, another case, it #2, turnes from male-to-female by surgery, but it #2 claims to be a lesbian formerly trapped in a male body.

Then it #2 decides to marry a female, and the state is put in the awkward position to marry to people who look anatomically like women.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "SEX CHANGE." YOU CAN'T CHANGE A MAN INTO A WOMAN THROUGH SURGERY ANY MORE THAN YOU CAN CHANGE A HORSE INTO A ZEBRA BY PAINTING STRIPES ON IT. AFTER HE DOES WHATEVER HE DOES, HE WON'T BE A WOMAN, JUST A POOR, SICK AMPUTEE.
