Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim June, 2003, as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month. I encourage all citizens to observe this month with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities which celebrate our diversity and recognize the GLBT Americans whose many and varied contributions have enriched our lives in this state and in the nation.

Do they have a Marriage Pride Month in Michigan? I'm waiting for a proclamation from Governor Granholm on it.

Hey, I take offense to that. I am from Canada and let me assure you I'm NOTHING like Granholm! I'm in fact the complete opposite.

Good! This will only hasten and ease her departure from office. Why the h3ll does she think we need a whole month to celebrate? Was this discussed publicly at all? I don't recall hearing anything about this until now.
I gotta stop listening to WLS in the morning, I guess.

This is a homosexual thread, that's why I commented the way I did. On a heterosexual thread I will comment on that.
Now to the NAMBLA question....

Okay, so the bisexuals that do believe in monogamy do admit that they can abstain from an orientation. Right?

I'm one of the heterosexual minority. Do I qualify as a minority. Then again I'm that despised species, the white male and hence undeserving of Granholm's notice. I consider her contempt for my values to be a badge of honor.

"Now to the NAMBLA question.... "
I certainly do not support NAMBLA.
Furthermore, I would be surprised if you could give me proof that any mainstream gay organization does. Certainly the Log Cabin Republicans do not.
I'm not an expert on where gay groups stand on NAMBLA, but Luis posted a statement from some gay group explicitly denouncing NAMBLA.
Luis, perhaps you'd care to educate some FReepers and share the link?

Monogamy is a choice. Orientation is not. Bisexuals that choose monogamy have elected to spend their life with their partner, be it male or female.
I would imagine bisexuals will still be sexually attracted to other men and women, even though they have chosen monogamy. Much the same way heterosexual men continue to look at women besides their spouse, but refrain from sleeping with them.

Unlike you, I don't ascribe beliefs and ideologies to entire categories of demographic groups. What about pedophiles? For that matter, do all homosexuals believe in homosexuality? I mean...give me a break. Asking if all (or most) bisexuals believe in monogamy is a valid question given that they are so-called bi-oriented. In order to be mongamous they would have to abstain from an orientation.

Monogamy is a choice. Orientation is not. You sure are being dogmatic about that. Are you sure orientation is NEVER a choice? I thought you didn't make sweeping statements like that (see your earlier post).

This started, btw, in New York, as a comemmoration of the Stonewall Riots of 1969, which occurred in late June of that year. Don't know the exact date, although it was on or near Judy Garland's birth/death day, which is why the patrons were celebrating when the cops entered the bar.

Also, are you saying that some people are polygamy oriented yet choose monogamy anyway?

Wrong. See #108.
I don't believe for a minute anyone chooses to be gay (or bisexual or straight).
People are dealt the cards they're dealt for whatever reason, but people can't just turn off their sexual attractions. They can refrain from acting on them, but the initial sexual attraction is not within their control.

Really? I always figured that when Civil War came, I would hunt down every graduate of Harvard Law so I knew who to round up for the mass stoning. I guess I'll have to make an exception for a fellow Freeper. ;-)
BTW: Why didn't you go to a real school like the University of Chicago!

And, we are supposed to believe the homosexual agenda is about encouraging and forcing US citizens to celebrate homosexuality?
To: Trace21230
You said:

Which is it? How do you know no one chooses, for whatever reason (perhaps because of abuse by the opposite sex)?

According to her bio she moved to the US with her family when she was 4 years old. She is 44 at the moment. She grew up and formed her values in America.
