Nine illegal aliens have been arrested while working on the New Hampton Inn project in East Aurora.
Investigative Reporter Luke Moretti tell us the Building Trades Council blew the case open.
Buffalo Building Trades Council President Daniel Boody said, "All in the name of greed."
Greed, say these top area union leaders, comes in the form of illegal aliens found working on the Hampton Inn Hotel project in East Aurora.
Last month, nine undocumented workers from Mexico were busted by immigration officers.
"Approximately eight guys getting out of the van."
The case got rolling after the Buffalo Building Trades Council was tipped off.
Daniel Boody said, "...complaints by non-union construction workers that are layed off that thought they would be working here for that employer."
The project developer is Paul Bandrowski. Union officials say not only did Bandrowski have illegal aliens working on the seven million dollar, eighty room hotel project, they stayed at a residence he owns on Main Street.
Mike Barczys of Carpenters Local #9 said, "...hard for a guy and for a superintendent of that caliber to not know that on his site when he walks through nine illegal aleins are working there."
But Bandrowski tells us a sub-contractor handled the work detail and temporary housing. He denies having any knowledge of the situation.
Question: You don't have any knowledge of that at all? Aurora Ventures Chairman Paul Bandrowski said, "None at all. We would never condone it. We as a company make sure that every contractors we have, with every sub-contractor says that everybody has to be legal to work in the United States."
An immigration spokesman from Vermont tells me that nine illegal aliens were arrested on May 23rd. Eight have since been deported back to Mexico. One remains in the United States because of a criminal history.
Despite the labor setback, work continues on the East Aurora Hampton Inn, scheduled to open this summer.

I doubt things (adjusted) are so much cheaper today than in the 70's because for one it was far more common --and possible for a family to live on one income back then. Wages of $15-20 per hour were common enough for people with just high school diplomas and that's actually fairly rare today.
We ought to compare property and local taxes too ----and health insurance rates which are higher to pay for the free care for others who agree to work for no benefits.

I can't prove it but I warrant that MOST of the actual PROFIT that comes out of American business done on American soil comes out of the Labor of illegals. If you want to get an idea of how much non illegal benifited products would cost ... go down and price just a pair ... of Bang and Olufsen speakers. I'm serrious. TWO lousy 60 watt B&O speakers will set you back $1800. THAT's pure 'white man' capitalism and some import duties.
My point in these posts has been that Americans have NO IDEA how much they depend on wetback labor. Not even so called informed FReepers. If the 'deport em all now' crowd suddenly got their wish ... our economy would grind to a halt faster than if half the oil tankers on the sea were suddenly sunk.
The answer? It's about as easy as going back to the original constitution where only land holders could vote. (something I advocate by the way). Then the problem would be fixed. Only then. Of course it would have to be only male land owners as most women are liberals. (sorry FReeper girls it's just a fact)

I doubt things (adjusted) are so much cheaper today than in the 70's because for one it was far more common --and possible for a family to live on one income back then. The major factor then was that the standard of living was much lower, too. I grew up in the 1970s, and we never had more than one television set, more than one stereo, no dishwasher, no video games, etc. We didn't get a second car until I was about 12 years old, and the cars we had were not nearly as comfortable or high-tech as the ones you see on the road today. And there was no such thing as medical advances like magnetic resonance imaging, microsurgery, organ transplants, etc.
Wages of $15-20 per hour were common enough for people with just high school diplomas and that's actually fairly rare today.
Yes, but that is the reason why very few people had a lot of those amenities, too. Because they cost so much more then than they do now.
We ought to compare property and local taxes too ----and health insurance rates which are higher to pay for the free care for others who agree to work for no benefits.
You'll get no argument from me there. The cost of government is one thing that is immune to the "price reduction" scenarios that I described to you.

****I've even seen women peddling 'tamales' on our streets, think they have health permits, or vendors licenses ??****
So arrest them!
Anybody dumb enough to buy those tamales deserves to get sick.

Look Y'all ... if you thinking people would get out of the blue zones and let them fall of their own weight the 'market' so to speak would solve these problems for us. It's almost working now. californica is on the verge. Get out now and hasten it's political demise. We can go back after the riots and mass death. It'll be a nice place again.

I was wondering when the labor unions would start to balk at all these illegals.
Americans should stop paying their union dues if they think the unions are recruiting illegals.

I read recently of people, done out of jobs by illegals, managing to sue the employers...anyone know what has come of this? Given that it is so tough to get our gov to enforce our immigration laws, that is a gambit that might work.

It's likely not that Americans weren't willing to take the jobs but instead not willing to work as cheaply as an illegal alien will work. Most average sized cities have corners where illegal guys will hang out and people will come by and hire them for day long projects and pay cash because it's the cheapest way to get help and they'll work harder for the money than many legal Americans would for the amount they are paid. INS could easily find these corners in any town and bus them all right back to Mexico but they won't. They are fairly useless when it comes to anyone from Mexico.

These so-called jobs that only illegals will take is a joke. Since the government insists on welfare, then they should also insist that those on welfare take these jobs so that there isn't a need for illegals.

Supposedly they have to apply for a certain number of jobs and provide proof every so often (not sure how many or how often) but they just apply for jobs they have no chance of getting.

But many of those on welfare don't work because they don't have to. Why? Because they know the government will keep sending them a check anyway. I say make them EARN that check and help eliminate the need for illegals.

I don't think there is any real *need* for illegals. With all the people out of work in the country right now there is simply a *need* for INS to do their job so more jobs will open up for the actual citizens of the country.

I totally agree. Colorado has taken some steps towards that. No job seeking and training, no welfare.

Oh I agree that the INS, border patrol, etc. are all at fault. But there's also a need for cheap labor. Let's be honest. Americans- even those who are out of work, are far too prideful to go work in the fields for minimum wage. Heck, you can barely get people to work at MacDonald's. But if you take all the folks on welfare, put them to work in these lower-end jobs, there will be no need for illegals.
I think the problem with illegals and our welfare society go hand-in-hand. Too many people wanting a hand out, and even fewer willing to get off their butts and do anything about it. Even worse, the federal gov't fosters this dependency. And all of us pay for it.

Michigan also does this. But with Grandolm as governor now, I expect to see it all go away.
