According to a former Bill Clinton staffer, Senator Hilary Rodham Clinton is paying for some national polling the will guage her political and personal popularity while she makes her national television appearances and speaks about her book.
I'ts all part of a summer long decision making process about whether she should make a run for the 2004 Democratic Presidential Nomnation this time around,' says the Former Clinton staffer.
'Bill really wants her to do it.'
The rumours of Mrs. Clinton possibly entering the race are being taken seriously enough that some Democrats in New York and planting negative comments about her in the press in an attempt to temper her national political aspirations.
'She made a committment to this party, to this state, to serve as Senator for six years,' says a state party operative from Upstate New York.
'She and her people know full well what went into her getting the nomination. She should not back out on promises the she-and her husband--made to us. They should focus on the state and their constitutients.

Additions to the list:
9.She waltzed into the position of "Unelected Madame Health Care" back in '92 through '94: it wasn't that long ago (I remember the "Who elected HER?!" bumper stickers all over the place around here) and caused a pretty negative reaction in a lot of places OTHER than the state of New York.
10. She's never been governor of a state before. Every Democrat who has won the presidency since LBJ has been a former governor, and so have a couple of Republicans I can think of (Bush and Reagan immediately come to mind). People are more likely to be favorable about a candidate being in charge of the country if they have already "been in charge" of a state.
11. She does not have the "turn-on-a-dime" ability to masquerade as a likeable, average-Joe, beer and hot dogs good ol' person like William the First did and camouflage her hateful, tyrannical real self. She can't fake the phony Bill smile, either.
12. She doesn't have Bill's maniacal lust to campaign.
13. She has to be handled and doesn't have Bill's ability to respond in a debate in a slick and deceptive manner.
14. The recent tirade that got aired over and over on Fox didn't help matters.
15. As far as I know, she can't play a saxophone, or any other musical interest. (so much for the MTV vote)

I kind of thought of that too. Perhaps more SS agents will be needed in anticipation of an '04 run? Geeze, I can't even stand the thought of that criminal hag as President.

But JFK lost of course on a close ballot at the convention, could happen here with Her Heinous..

We feel {understandably} snake bitten by Bill Clinton. But we're blowing way out of all realistic proportion the potency of a Hillary run '04, '08 or any other time! Name one astute political move she's ever engineered!I am still waiting for the court transcript of those famous cases that got her nominated to that "lawyer of the year award" or "most something or other lawer" she was purported to have received. Can't think of the suckup organization that gave it to her though. Hell, I can't even think of anything she ever did to get the moniker of "smartest woman in America!"
Come to think of it, is there ANYTHING this woman (alleged) has done that hasn't been on the coattails (or dropped pants) of her smarmy husband?

Never underestimate Hillary Clinton and the dem's capacity to hang together and attract the people who have a beef with the govt not giving them their every whim,,we cannot underestimate this. Add to it a bunch of angry conservative groups turning on BWB cause he doesn't go along chapter and verse with their particular issue and we have a repeat of the election that gave us the dreadful bill clinton
To: cajungirl
There is one scenario that would work for Hillary: The Biblical one where Christ raptures His Church (born again Christians, including President Bush, Ashcroft, several cabinet members, etc. disappear into eternity) and millions of voting republicans!
To: VRWC_minion
Oh please let Queen of the Damned be the RAT nominee for 2004!!! It will be so much fun humiliating her and her rapist husband on election day!!!!
To: ewing
She'll get a dose of reality real quick.
When she loses her Senate seat, or opts not to run, she'll find out exactly how people feel about a "come back".
To: theFIRMbss
Moyhnihan, who was respected from both sides of the aisle, annointed her his successor, and everyone else was toast. That's a fact.
She won't win re-election in 2006, as her Presidential aspirations would make it difficult for her to lie about what her plans would be. Besdies, that, her disapproval ratings are very high, Schumer hates her gutts, and Rudy may come and snatch it from her. Either way, she's doomed. All those funerals, and no Hillary made for a nightmare PR event.
Her chances of cheating have also been greatly reduced with electronic voting, FBI with teeth, and the a$$ skimming Daschle is getting in SD. Still.
Let's throw in the Martha Stewart connection, and this could get real good, real fast.
To: ewing
Gore knows the score - Bush in 04, Hillary getting annointed in 08. He knew he had no chance - ever.
DNC deliberately letting Bush win to set it up for balls to the wall in '08.
To: mewzilla
Think about it.
If she won, Pataki would have to appoint a Republican Senator.
Hillary would have a Congress that was overwhelmingly Republican and fillibuster-proof.
She must be desperate and grasping at straws to try this early.
To: UCANSEE2
Please.
America don't play like elite east coast.
To: IFly4Him
Please tell me how:
a) She wins re-election.
b) She justifies ditching all those 9/11 funerals.
c) She answers the "I only want to serve for 18 months so I can run for President"
