[history]
In union halls, churches and community centers, a national campaign modeled on tactics from the civil rights movement slowly is taking shape to champion the cause of immigrants.
The Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride, patterned after the bus rides that 40 years ago challenged segregation laws in the Southern states, is a national initiative that aims to push for immigration reforms this fall. The new freedom riders will set out from Minneapolis and eight other cities in late September and converge in Washington, D.C., and New York for rallies.

Immigration "reform"? Sounds more like they want a complete removal of all immigration laws altogether.
Tell 'em to follow the law, or go pound sand.

A government suit against the hotel was settled, and most of the workers were allowed to stay in the United States. So, our wonderful federal government, instead of obeying the law and promptly deporting these folks, instead sues on their behalf. Lovely.

Illigals target Minnesota because the legislature placed a FIVE YEAR limit on welfare payments.

Immigrant Workers Freedom RideTheir "issues" are entirely related to those of illegal aliens.
And they are not "immigrants" since they have no legal status as such.

Jessie Ventura's not doing anything right now. Perhaps they could get him to drive the bus (and never come back).

"We are human beings; we deserve respect and dignity whether we are here with or without documents."Sorry, but you illegals are nothing more than common criminals akin to "rustlers, cut-throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperadoes, mugs, pugs, thugs, ... vipers, snipers, con-men, ...muggers, ... bush-whackers, horn-swagglers, horse-thieves,... train-robbers, bank-robbers..."... Harvey Korman - Blazing Saddles (1974) -- Some more offensive terms deleted. You need to be rounded up, arrested for the common criminals you are, and tossed back to wherever you snuck in from.
How's that for respect? Get out of my country and come back once you've applied, are inspected, are approved, and have jumped through all the hoops like everyone else. Butting in line is rude.

These loud-mouth tactics only raise public consciousness to the problem of Illegal Immigration. The result will be quite the opposite of that desired.
Have at it pedro.

And remember to get your shots.

Not even the United Nations recognizes a "right of immigration" - these guys can shout all they like but not many out in 'real America' will be listening.

Viral meningitis on rise in kids
~ Arizona Republic
May 30, 2003
Viral meningitis in children is on the rise and hitting earlier than usual in the Valley, doctors said Thursday.
Phoenix Children's Hospital has noted more than a dozen cases of the highly contagious disease in the past two weeks, said Dr. David Bank, medical director of the hospital's emergency department.
The best prevention is good hygiene, said Dr. Karen Lewis, a physician-trainer and pediatric infectious-disease specialist with the Arizona Department of Health Services.

I am frankly surprised that there are not more cases of TB showing up in North America. Asia runs rampant with this disease.
To: Eric in the Ozarks; DLfromthedesert
I'm betting this is one of today's news stories that the media moguls are squelching.
There are many third world diseases we haven't seen in the U.S. in decades that are showing up again. I mentioned the meningitis story to my wife, an admissions clerk at our local hospital, and she said that's just one more 'cost' of unchecked illegal immigration.
DL, is that anywhere near your perception of things where you are?

Absolutely. There is a lot more concern about TB; we've had some babies born form mothers with active TB.

Sounds more like they want a complete removal of all immigration laws altogether Exactly right. In William Hawkins' excellent 1994 book, Importing Revolution: Open Borders and the Radical Agenda, he points out that the ultimate aim of the socialists is to
- Make illegal aliens a "protected class", which means they are a discriminated against minority;
- Make it a civil right to enter the United States at will, on the theory that the poor of the world have the right to come to where the riches are and vote to take them away;
- Create an underclass of blacks and hispanics that will be a "nation within a nation" that will "undermine the American empire from within".
What is happening now in front of our eyes is well known and understood by some. It is a deliberate attempt to destroy the country through anti-American "immigration" (actually, immivasion). The Socialists believe that they can use the courts to dilute the laws, the greed of the business owners to hang themselves (Lenin was right; they're all rope salesmen, selling the executioner the rope he will hang them with), and useful idiots in both parties to cheerlead for immigration as some sort of natural occurrence which can never be stopped and is always good.
