Yeah it is. Ellen DeGeneres is one of the stars I believe (thought I read that on another thread a little while back).

Is it a Disney film?

Pixar made it and Disney distributes it. Also, notice the big drop in the Matrix box-office. This means that people aren't going back to see it a second (or third, etc.) time.

I saw this yesterday with my daughter and grandchildren.

We all really enjoyed it very much. While the kids obviously enjoyed it, my daughter and I were LOL!

Ellen Degenerate was very good as "Dory"...she stole the show, IMO.

It is every bit as good as any of the other Pixar movies. In fact, I'd say it was their best, yet!

I won't let my kids see this film for 2 reasons:

1. Ellen

2. DeGeneres

Thank goodness for Pixar. When Disney started going down the tubes in the mid ninties with stupid movies, Pixar picked up.

I rarely see a movie, but I went to Bruce Almighty with some of my family who wanted to see a movie.

For the very squeamish, I'd say that there are one or two bad words. Also, the hero is a selfish pig living in sin at the start of the movie--but that's the point. He straightens out after he learns his lesson.

The whole movie is very funny and also happens to be a perfect answer to the problem considered what is called theodicy. Which is to say that, if God is a) omnipotent; and b) totally good; then how come c) there is so much evil and suffering in the world? It's the question most unbelievers come up with.

C.S. Lewis tackles this question in his book, "The Problem of Pain." His answer is the same as the movie's (and the same as Milton's in Paradise Lost): Love and free will.

No wonder Frank Rich and the rest of the liberal critics hated it.

You might enjoy reading this story. Pixar's Andrew Stanton is a native of Cape Ann, Massachusetts, where I presently live. Here's a feature from the local paper about him. The film itself is loaded with insider jokes about Stanton's hometown of Rockport, including such landmarks as the twin lighthouses of Thacher Island and the red fishing shack called Motif #1 (one of the world's most popular tourist photo spots; when the building was damaged in a storm some years ago, it was either Polaroid or Kodak who paid to have it repaired). The dentist's office is based on a real life practice in Manchester-by-the-Sea; come to think of it, our family practitioner is located in the same town, and he's got a giant aquarium in his waiting room, too!

Boy story: Some of 'Finding Nemo' had inspiration in creator's hometown -- Rockport

As for the story of Pixar renegotiating its relationship with Disney, I heard that during an interview on "60 Minutes II" -- the Pixar honchos were being a little coy with the interviewer, saying they enjoyed their long-standing relationship with Disney but were considering other options, too.

Steve Jobs, of Apple Computer fame, also runs Pixar. Nemo completes a five picture deal with Disney (Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Bug's Life, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo), although there was some disagreement over whether Toy Story 2, being a sequel, counted. Pixar needed Disney's marketing muscle at first, but now, with the deal out of the way, Disney will either have to pony up a phenomenal amount of money or Pixar will find another distributor (they're like a guaranteed cash machine).

Good movie, like it more than Monsters Inc. and can't wait to get it on DVD.

Saw Nemo with my wife and daughters (5 and 7) today. There is a remarkable PRO-LIFE theme to this movie.

The mother and father clownfishes speak to their UNBORN fish eggs at the beginning of the movie, trying to decide names for all 400 of them before they are born. Then disaster strikes and Marlin discovers there's one UNBORN egg left, whom he bravely rushes to save and names Nemo, to honor his dead wife's wishes.

The audience can see the eyes moving within the sac of the UNBORN egg. Later on, during one last life-and-death moment, Marlin has a memorable flashback of his UNBORN son, and begs Nemo to stay alive, after all the drama in finally reuniting with him.

IMHO, somebody at Pixar wanted very much to send a message, and I'm glad he/she/they prevailed. Kudos for having the Marlinian courage to do so.

Didn't anybody catch the anti-American dig in the beginning of the film? There was a dig about the sharks taking over and wanting to run everthing, just like the Americans. Some liberal's dig made it to the screne in a kids movie. I think I'm right about the sharks saying this, anyway it was said in some context. Let me know what you heard. PS. I'm not a paranoid right winger.
