Dick Morris: 'Clintons Want Bush Re-elected'

The decision by Bill and Hillary Clinton to keep a high profile going into next year's presidential campaign amounts to a "conscious effort" by the former first couple to make sure that no Democrat wins the White House in 2004.

That's the stunning assessment from political strategist Dick Morris, who said Thursday that the Clintons actually want to see Bush re-elected so he can retire just when Mrs. Clinton is ready to run for the White House herself in 2008.

"There is a conscious effort going on by the Clintons to distract attention from the current field of candidates," Morris told nationally syndicated radio host Sean Hannity. "They do not want a Democrat to win in '04."

"They want Bush to be re-elected," the former Clinton adviser explained. "And that way they want Hillary to be able to run for an open seat."

"If Bush lost and a Democrat were elected, then obviously [Hillary] would have to support him in '08," he noted.

"She couldn't run until 2012. She'd be 65 years old and would have been out of office for 12 years. It's kind of hard at that point to keep the bloom on the rose and be able to run."

Morris said that Bill Clinton wants to maintain his role as spokesman for the Democratic Party so he can "trivialize and minimize the Democratic candidates" and thereby keep the Oval Office open for Hillary.

Another indication that the former first couple would like to see their own party defeated in the next presidential election, said Morris, is the fact that "[Clinton's] big fund-raising guns have not signed up with any of these other guys."

Democratic strategist Susan Estrich offered partial support for Morris' theory last week, complaining that the Clintons were actually hurting other Democratic presidential candidates with their high-profile antics.

"The Clintons suck up every bit of the available air," the one-time Dukakis campaign manager observed. "Nothing is left for anyone else. They are big, too big. That's the problem."

"The 2004 candidates need a chance to get some attention," she added. "Could somebody please tell [the Clintons] to shut up?"

I couldn't agree more. I'm generally not on board with those that paint Hillary as a 50-foot-tall Goliath of political shrewdness but this time they're right.

Crusty will go down to Rudy in 2006, and never be president. ever.

BINGO! You've got that exactly right. And you can bet your butt that she's aware of this and is really pondering how to get into the 2004 race before she is relegated to the dust-bin of history.

It is going to be fun to watch.

I love your great idea for the Stop sign in post 36!
(Hillary Stickers! got to get me some!)

Today I was speakiing to someone who didn't even know anything about Hillary!

I find it scary that the Campaign finace law will make it illegal and impossible to educate the public in the days before the 2004 elections!

Hillary Rodham Clinton is evil.
but few know it.

And even fewer will be able to know
her true character when they step into
the ballot box in 2004 or even 2008.

We're being set up for a FALL.

All in Hillary's hands.
All in Hillary's plans.

Stunning? I thought it was flat obvious for months now, if not years.

Well then, I'd say that we here in FreeperLand are providing this country a tremendous service by exposing The Rodhamiester to the light. All we have to do is keep lifting them rocks.

When you make bold predictions, you run the risk of being wrong. However, I much prefer someone who is willing to prognosticate on an unsure subject than someone who is right all the time on no-brainers. The problem that we the political onlookers have is we punish risk-taking (in political foresight) too much and reward accuracy on no-brainers more than we should. Morris' predictions are about the best there are- only tempered by the fact that he is still a political animal, and often his public statements are meant to have some desired political impact as much as they are intended to predict the future.

She'd be 65 years old and would have been out of office for 12 years (if a democ"rat" wins in 2004).

12 years? Meaning since she (Hildabeast) was first lady?
Wasn't aware "first lady" was designated a paid gov't office per se ... a "first lady" (I'm using the "lady" part very loosely) basically came in on the coattails of her husband the president ... but hey, we're talking the co-presidency here ... my apologies for the oversight!

Just got a call from a CNN pollster who wanted to know if I would vote for Hillary for President or not. Interesting they would start polling this now if she was not plan on running in '04.

Could we have some alternate ones with some of her alternate names?

Great work!

Thanks.

STRONGLY AGREE.

But I suspect that literally God Almighty will have to tell Condy the same thing or she would not be likely to do it.

I still say Dilldo and her hideous heinous Shrillery Antoinnette de Fosterizer de Sade

are in on some of the planning of the puppet masters and greedily waiting to play their bit parts for whatever spoils and power mongering they think they can get away with.

I don't know what is going to happen, but I believe Hillary wants to run in '04. Her book is hitting the stands just as the campaign starts, she is doing prime time with Barbara WaWa, and I think she is behind the scenes directing the war room against Bush.

http://www.politicalpredictions.org/morris.htm

Here is a site. Morris is a political hack that has no business anywhere near washington. What is his claim to fame? I believe it is being an advisor for an immoral, reprobate, rapist-thug. He is a professional liar that speaks out of both sides of his mouth. He is way out of touch with the rest of America and his prediction record shows it.
Why is he so wrong? IMHO, it is because he is an elitist pseudointellectual like the Clintons, and like you said...his statements are meant to have a political impact. Does he really think he can affect Americans with his transparant rants on what he thinks? Americans want real leaders that are plain spoken and do what they say...or keep their word.
Democrats and Dick Morris don't understand this because they are always trying to manipulate people's opinions...even when they don't have to.
