I'm a newbie. I understand inside jokes. They can be funny for awhile, when the thread isn't a serious one. But I too find it infantile on this forum. Especially when 75% of the posts are these same stupid jokes, over and over again. It makes it really difficult to scan through the thread for the real news. Signal to noise ratio is quite high most of the time - quite irritating.

I'd read stale inside jokes all day long if it meant I would never have to see another thread, or hear another story on Laci and Scott Peterson.

Here's an idea... next time there is a Peterson thread, NO ONE READ IT OR POST TO IT !! Let's put our money where our mouths are when we say we're sick of that story. Let's not dignify it by posting to those threads. I'll be the first to not post. C'mon, spread the word -- no self-respecting Freeper can reply to a Peterson thread w/o fear of public humilitation!

Hey, I am glad you posted that 1987 World Series pic. I am from Minn/ND, and the Minn Twinkies won that series. I loved it.

"Signal to noise ratio is quite high most of the time - quite irritating."

A high S/N ratio is a GOOD thing...like 65-70db. Lots of signal above the noise floor.

Anyone have a link to the origins of the "shower" part of the FR lexicon?

I can't read Arabic, but I know people who do ...

Keep in mind that al-Sharq al-Awsat originally published the story stating that Saif al-Adel and Saad bin Laden had fled Iran after the Riyadh bombings, when in fact they're holed up in that old hunting lodge that is now serving as a base for the IRGC. This is likely more of the same disinformation, but it does help us to clarify that our boy Suleiman is indeed in Iran, making it the first time we've had a fix on his location since he left Afghanistan.

http://www.albawaba.com/news/index.php3?sid=250449&lang=e&dir=news

The Iranians are predictably denying the whole thing ever took place, which probably means that he is there and under the protection of the IRGC, but they aren't going to even consider turning him over until the US dismantles MEK and turns over their leaders, thereby ending any kind of intelligence we are likely to obtain on the Iranian nuclear program. As the US is unlikely to haggle with Khamenei, that would mean that al-Qaeda, at least for the time being, has a safe haven in Iran.

That's IF we don't send in any special ops. Or the British. Or the Australians. Wanna bet?

You say Wahhabi, I say wasabi... :)

I like it Wasabi when fresh, on tuna...it doesn't taste like bait.

You mean you DIDN'T get your FR Mystery Decoder Ring? Hmmm....maybe you're still on probation or TPTB found something icky in your background check.

HEY!...How you've done it, the secret decoder ring is no more...you've let everybody know about the ring...I had only 1682 days left. :(

There are about 3,000 Saudi royals. That's been the big problem over there. Some of them are very reform minded and pro-American, others have supported the terrorists.

What we're watching now is the battle within the family to see who wins out in the end.

Bush just handed the good guys a winning hand by pulling the US troops out of SA, let's see how they play the cards.

Taking out the radical imams would seem like a good move. The clerics are the ones who radicalize the people into becoming potential recruits for Al-Queda. And the clerics can't really go underground and still be effective

The British can't even snag Captain Hook, and he lives right in the middle of London. Australia is a definite possibility, though.

So far as I can see, Bush and company have just turned the chessboard upside down. I probably am being melodramatic, but this mayb the biggest change to be seen in the area since Alexande barged in with his hoplites and overthrew the Persian empire....or not. Time will tell.

"Every time I direct someone to FR, I have to explain in advance that he will see references to showers, hugh and series news stories, dumbies, etc. These things crack me up when I read them, but I wonder how many newbies are wondering if we're some kind of elite club with code language only "members" understand"

I've been coming here a few months now..... love the site..... still feel like a newbie...... and am STILL translating code as I read. *L*

I love all the funny stuff that goes on here! I wonder if there should be a permanent link to all of the "inside" jokes we run across here all the time.

No. Because if you knew the code, we'd have to kill you.

Okay, humor me. Is that a now-obligatory, huge picture of Hugh, that must accompany series comments about issues of immense import?

(If so, I like it. =)
