LONDON, May 28, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The UK Life League, a British pro-life group has reported that Jane Russell, the 1940s and '50s Hollywood movie star and pin-up girl, now aged 82, gave an interview this week slamming abortion. "People should never, ever have an abortion. Don't talk to me about it being a woman's right to choose what she does with her own body. The choice is between life and death," said Russell.
Describing her shock at finding herself pregnant at 18: "The only solution was to find a quack and get an abortion. I had a botched abortion and it was terrible. Afterwards my own doctor said: 'What butcher did this to you?' I had to be taken to hospital. I was so ill I nearly died. I've never known pain like it." Russell says that due to the abortion she was not able to have any other children.

My point was that if the "majority" of women regretted it so much, abortion would be rarer than it is. Hildy, it's birth control for some women. Honest to gosh, they'll do it over & over again just for that purpose. And the younger girls aren't told the truth by the system. Good grief, look at how society treats it.
I think you're very very wrong, and if you could have those women you talk to HONESTLY open up to you, if they have an ounce of decency, they'd tell you they regret it.
Abortion is the ending of a life. It is murder. Black and white.

I'm glad she is speaking out, better late than never. Unfortunately, the pro-abortion crowd will use her 64 year-old experience to justify legal abortions as vital and necessary. On the other hand, I wonder if the desensitization among young women in particular happens as a consequence of painless and fast abortions, which are less uncomfortable than seeing a dentist. This of course doesn't take in consideration the mother's lack of concern for her son or daughter's life.

From the accounts I've read and heard, the proceedure is reportedly not so painless.

Father John Corapi is GREAT!!!
I've met him twice at Marian conferences. His catechism series is the best. I have often wished he would team-up with Priests for Life. He is so powerful, the movement needs someone with his zeal and charisma .

This is something I've just got from the net.
THE OPERATION ITSELF: An abortion is simple and takes only a few minutes. You'll probably be given a local anesthetic. The injections are relatively painless. LINK.

I have 4 sisters. One had an abortion by choice. My DAD'S choice, not hers. I just found out about it last week. Dad died within 4 weeks of making her have an abortion against her choice. God works in mysterious ways.

Do you see why your side will never win?
Hildy, I don't wish to enter this debate because I am independent and frequently become the target of people who think I may actually lean too far left on some issues, but, I must tell I think you are wrong here. I do think at some point in the future, perhaps in the next generation, abortion will be outlawed in this country, as it is in Ireland. I say that not because of the GOP, but because I am a teacher and I know the views of young people are VERY much anti-abortion - it may be something like 66% of all high school seniors think abortion is wrong and should be illegal. And, most of their parents disagree with them, but, that's the way the next generation is leaning on this issue. And, that percentage of anti-abortion young people has been growing steadily over the years.

Honestly, there are many accounts I've heard and read related that tell of excruciating pain. And that'a just while it is happening. Years later, so many report of trauma not unlike post traumatic stress disorder and I've seen reports of that going back to the 30's.
All the way around killing an unborn child is a bad move.

You may not believe this, but I hope you're right. I never said I think abortion is the right way to go, I just said I did it and I don't regret it. Nobody here wants to hear that message.

I think I am right on this issue. And, again, it's because of the generation coming up.

Are you saying you think God killed your father for having your sister have an abortion? I'm out of here.

I'm leaving, but feel free to keep insulting me, I'd rather you vent off here than in real life where you may really do some damage.

The key here is the word, "valid." Do you decide which statistics are valid? Does it depend on whose statistics they are?
Women who are in denial over a past abortion rationalize anything that gets in the way of their continuing insistence that "there was nothing to it."
I wonder if you could accept the statistics as "valid," regardless of where they come from--or would they be valid only if they come from Planned Parenthood?
To: vidbizz
Incredible account. I'm sorry for the loss of TWO people in your life. And I DO believe you.
To: Hildy
I don't know about that....where people could do "real damage"? Like what, praying on the sidewalk in front of an abortion clinic? That's damaging? How?
Or, talking to a scared girl/woman and offering her.....a CHOICE in the matter? That's damaging? How?
CHOICE has become a one-sided word, hasn't it? You either choose death or you're a kook. Well, Hildy, and any other pro-deathers out there, I'm a PROUD kook.
