I like the tow line attached to the bow in that photo.

Are you sure the pictures are of that ship? I don't think slanted (to the side) decks were built until the atomic powered carriers.

I really want one. Anyone up for a time-share deal or limited partnership? OK. Think of the implications of "Freeps Ahoy" with this group owning this thing. The mind boggles. I have a feeling we could make Free Republic a significant player in world affairs with this baby ;>

I just mechanically followed the links on that site.
I thought some of the images seemed odd, but as I have no expertise in the area, I can't make a judgement.

Be careful kids, or you'll put your eye out with that thing!

Is there more than 4.5 million worth of scrap metal in that thing?

It's British ... it's bound to have an oil leak and electrical fire problems. ;o)Not to mention that peculiarly British accessory known as the "random nut ejector." Every British sports car I owned in the 60s and 70s had one. You would come out every morning and there, lying on the car floor, would be a nut. Never obvious where it came from, and it had no apparent effect on the integirty of the car until the day when the whole thing simply collapsed in a great heap.

USS Enterprise (CVN-65) was the first nuclear powered carrier. Prior to Enterprise, the Forrestal (CV-59), Saratoga (CV-60), Ranger (CV-61), Independence (CV-62), Kitty Hawk (CV-63) and Constellation (CV-64) were all commissioned as slanted deck supercarriers.

Plenty of room to install a 15,000 sq. ft. Owner's Suite on the hanger deck.
Think they could install a tailhook on a Gulfstream V?

I'll chip in 10 bucks....lets buy it. I dunno, the insurance policy would probably be hell. All State won't even give me a quote.

"Not to mention that peculiarly British accessory known as the 'random nut ejector.'" Look closely at the background of this still; a random nut is being ejected:

Aircraft Carrier For Sale: A Perfect Father's Day Gift!
Reminds me of the joke I heard about the report on the Kentucky Downs and Belmont winner,
gelding "Funny Cide"
Since Funny Cide won those two races and since "he" is a gelding, stud fees and
appointments for his father (who is NOT a gelding) are rocketing upward.
And all I'm getting for my Dad is a tie!?
(sorry, I can't remember if this was from Leno, Argus Hamilton, or other commentator/comic...)

There should be no reason your 2nd amendment rights should not apply here. As stated by President G.Washington that we should have the the might to defend even from our own government.
