Are you sure the pictures are of that ship? I don't think slanted (to the side) decks were built until the atomic powered carriers.

I thought some of the images seemed odd, but as I have no expertise in the area, I can't make a judgement.

Are you sure the pictures are of that ship? I don't think slanted (to the side) decks were built until the atomic powered carriers. Actually, the British invented the design, and then their lefty government canned the carrier fleet. Now all they have are those little jump jet carriers.

USS Enterprise (CVN-65) was the first nuclear powered carrier. Prior to Enterprise, the Forrestal (CV-59), Saratoga (CV-60), Ranger (CV-61), Independence (CV-62), Kitty Hawk (CV-63) and Constellation (CV-64) were all commissioned as slanted deck supercarriers.
