The ship was initially sold to Brazil as Minas Gerais on 12th December 1956 for a total of US$9 million. Hey! It's half off!!

You want to buy a tank? I know where you can get a pretty good one (British Chieftain Mk XIV) for less than a new Kia. (With shipping to the US it's just over $10,000.) If anyone seriously wants one, drop me a note at the e-mail address on my profile page - I'd be more than happy to steer you to these folks, they've got some pretty cool stuff.

Love all the thoughts and suggestions. I however do not want to own it, but I would like the next owner to come by my place for a beer. Just park that baby right in front of my house!!

Mayor Daley in Chicago should have to buy it and park it off of Meggs Field to replace that runway. I know it's shorter, but the adrenaline would make it worth it.

Mrs. CD would have my head if I did. I already have a '55 Chevy and a '69 Chevy truck.
She has told me I can't have any more toys right now. :(

Yeah! Have you seen the "add $4 for '04" thread here yet? How about everyone up their monthly donation another couple of bucks til the ship is paid off? LOL... can you imagine the chaos if FR owned an aircraft carrier?
To: NativeNewYorker

3,196 Tons of oil equals 6,392,000 pounds of oil ... oil weighs about 7.5 pounds per gallon, so that means that there are 852,266.67 gallons of oil ... at a buck and a quarter per gallon, that means it costs $1,065,333.30 to fill the tanks.
How much you want to bet that the selling price does not include a full tank of gas?

can you imagine the chaos if FR owned an aircraft carrier? Yeah. We could REALLY invade a liberal state like California or Massachusettes with that.
I got dibbs on steering it first.

For $4.5m, this boat is in great shape. 2 refittings in the 90's? Wow. The scrap value of this boat even seems higher than the asking, especially if the electronics/radars are fully operational.

"Perhaps we should start a "freep-a-thon" to rally the money up for the USS FREEP." You bet, and the pinko commies over at DUmmyunfounded would have an apoplexy

How much you want to bet that the selling price does not include a full tank of gas? We could negotiate for that, And dont forget to have the dealer throw in a freee pair of those giant fuzzy dice to hang on the rear view mirror.
