TROUBLED pop queen Whitney Houston is dabbling with a strict Hebrew sect in a bid to sort out her life.
The singer was in Israel with wayward husband Bobby Brown yesterday to find out more about the Jewish group.
The pair also prayed at Jerusalems Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Whitney, 39, who had a No1 hit with Saving All My Love For You, became interested in the Black Hebrews after her sister-in-law Pat joined them.
They are an African-American community that moved to Israel in 1969 and settled in the southern town of Dimona.
Followers are banned from eating meat, dairy products and sugar and leaders decide who they marry.
They believe in polygamy and ban contraception.
The Sun told on Saturday how former cocaine addict Whitney was rushed to hospital last week.
She had emergency treatment after blood started pouring from her nose after a late-night party.
A source close to Whitney a Christian said: She is very interested in this group and feels they can help her through her troubles. She and Bobby have both connected with the religious leaders in Israel.
Some people have even suggested she has converted to this form of Judaism.
One thing everyone agrees is that anything that keeps Whitney out of trouble is a good thing.
Whitney has had a stormy marriage with rapper Bobby, 34, who has spent time in jail for drugs-related offences.

Legend has it that one of the lost tribes of Israel (Dan maybe?) ..one theory is that the Danes are from the 'lost tribe' of Dan.

Definitely a cult. And although they call themselves Hebrews, they are neither Hebrew nor Jewish. As their costumes and behavior suggest, they are much closer to being Muslims.

i don't know if it's a cult or not. i do know that i used to eat in a restaurant that was run by them. they were always freindly, and made some good food. and they dressed just like the photos that appear here. although i consider that to be traditional african dress, not necessarily muslim.

A true Christian would have said: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36
This group is obviously a cult as others have pointed out, and will continue to lead her and Bobby down the path of eternal damnation (which is a lot worse than just being in "trouble").
I pray that Whitney and Bobby will come to the realization that their only hope is to put their faith in Jesus, and rely wholly on him.

}Legend has it that one of the lost tribes of Israel (Dan maybe?) resettled in what is now Ethiopia.
"Legends" aside, the tribe of Dan was not Jewish. It was one of the 10 lost tribes of israel which were taken into the Assyrian captivity.

Well, maybe. Speaking from a Christian standpoint, from all I've ever heard/read about Whitney, she's (supposedly) a Christian, and given her childhood, upbringing, etc., her getting mixed up with BB has obviously been totally detrimental to her career and overall mental and physical well-being. She hasn't hit rock-bottom, but by the way things are going, she sure-as-shootin looks like that's where she's headed (just IMHO).

I went to college with an Ethopian man who claimed to be a Jew. We were in a Jewish Philosophy course together. The other students in the class were a bit sceptical, but couldn't say conclusively that this man was not a Jew. I believe he said that Ethiopian Jews resulted from the trip the Queen of Sheba made to visit King Solomon.

When Sharon asked her how she felt in Israel, Houston said, "It's home, it's home." Houston arrived Sunday for her stay with the Black Hebrews, a group of nearly 2,000 black Americans who followed a Chicago bus driver to Israel decades ago and believe they are descendants of one of the lost tribes of Israelites. Their religious customs include a vegan diet and polygamy. Houston spent her first day at their compound in the desert town of Dimona receiving massages, relaxing, and meeting with the Black Hebrews, who call each other saints. "She is loving it," said Patricia Houston, the singer's spokeswoman and sister-in-law. "She is a spiritual woman and wanted to come here and touch the land and be around the saints of Dimona."...Houston's personal manager(Pat) came to Israel and stayed with Hebrew Israelites in Dimona. She remained in the south for two weeks and felt that "Israel is a safe place" and recommended that Whitney and her family visit.... Whitney Houston is accompanied by a group of relatives, including her husband, singer Bobby Brown, and their daughter. - May 28, 2003, HAARETZ.COMReturn to Israel in September to Film US Cable Show
The couple on Tuesday met with Israeli Prime Minster Ariel Sharon (news - web sites) at his Jerusalem residence, and Brown later met with Elon at the King David hotel.
At the meeting, the minister presented Brown with a replica of a third century silver dinar and a certificate of appreciation for being a "goodwill ambassador for Israel." A similar certificate was also made out for Houston.
Houston, 39, and her husband and daughter made the visit to Israel at the invitation of the desert-dwelling Black Hebrews, who have been living here since 1969. She is due to release a musical track sung with members of the community.

Did she just emerge from an outdoor shower? What's up with that?
To: Cincinatus
Oh my. She looks so old and tired in that picture. Her voice was just superb in years past. What a shame...

If she hasn't hit bottom I don't want to see her when she does. The coke has taken her from being a beautiful woman to looking like something the crack whores ridicule.

Congress spent over a million bucks to build them a school in Dimona. RATS only believe in separation of church and state when a conservative wants to say a prayer before a High School football game. A liberal religious group wants to move overseas? Well, heck, American taxpayers should build them a school! They are still American citizens you know.

Whitney Houston is just an average run of the mill addict and is doing what all addicts do before they really get serious about getting sober: She's looking for something on the outside to cure her insides. It ain't gonna work. When she's really ready to look at herself, then her life will change for the better.

Yes. The Israelis brought them to Israel a while ago in a massive airlift.
Some scholars believe that their form of worship is the closest to the original form of Jewish worship due to their having been isolated for so many years. Apparently there are some rituals that are recognized as being ancient and no longer practiced except by them.
Graham Hancock devotes a lot of time to them in his book "The Sign and the Seal".

I have probably came pretty late into the discussion but I just happen to notice that a few people made comments about the racist BHI sects in the NYC. I run a group that refutes their doctrines and we also have a surplus of information on related groups like the ISUPK [Israelite School of Universal Practical Knowledge], the ICGJC [Israelite Church of God and Jesus Christ], etc. If you would like to join the group or you are curious about these groups please stop by at this link:
