May 29, 2003 -- The turmoil at the New York Times took another victim yesterday when Pulitzer-winning reporter Rick Bragg quit under fire.
"Staying on only would have caused more division," Bragg told The Post.
"I had hoped I could stay on a bit longer, but there is too much tension and I am tired," said Bragg, who is based in New Orleans and is a friend of the Times' executive editor, Howell Raines.

Also yesterday, critics hammered Times columnist Maureen Dowd for omitting part of a quote from President Bush on Sunday's Op-Ed page. Dowd put the entire Bush quote in her column yesterday, without mentioning the controversy - and a Times spokeswoman said the paper deems the matter closed. Case NOT CLOSED!
THAT is NOT a retraction of the faked quote. Raines and his little alcoholic winged monkey Dowd must GO!

If Raines thinks he can scapecoat the hapless Braggs and save his own sorry skin, he is so wrong!
The whole Internet is now wise to the despicable Raines and his Partner in Crime, moose-man "Pinch," the moronic ultra-liberal Publisher of the NY Times.

"If the worst thing that can be said about my legacy is that 'He wrote some good stories and, by the way, he overused stringers,' I can live with that," said Bragg, 43. Man, is this guy full of himself or what?

Well isn't that nice -- she doesn't have to apologize or anything?

Of course not. Being a Liberal means never having to say you're sorry.
(And Dowd is about as sorry as they get.)

great ping-list name and logo! Pls add me to it!
Q ERTY8 NYT's habitual failure to connect the dotsBUMP
My question for Pinch (him, he's dreaming) Sulzberger: Mr. Sulzberger... Shortly after 9/11, you admitted to Brian Lamb (C-SPAN, Washington Journal, 11.30.01) that The Times' endorsement of clinton was based on clinton "policies, not achievements."When you made that admission, were you following Abe Rosenthal's sage advice, ("When you're wrong in this profession, there is only one thing to do. And that is get right as fast as you can."), mindful of both the clintons' utter failure to protect us from terrorism, and The Times' prior "failure to connect the dots during the Holocaust,"... or were you merely covering your own corrupt, nepotistically-enabled, feckless rear?
