[history]
Mother Ruby Muhammad had hoped to get her watermelons and summer annuals into her Sacramento County garden before a trip to Chicago. But there hadn't been enough time.
And she'd like to write another poem.
At 106, Mother Ruby is downright vivacious. She was sad for a friend who confided to her that she was just waiting for the Lord to take her to heaven.

In Jewish greetings, you bless someone by wishing them to live to 120. I hope Bob Hope lives to be that old and who knows. :)

Very long lives
Mother Ruby makes herself coffee every morning in the home she shares with the Muhammad family. In addition to one hearty meal a day, she takes a multivitamin and a baby aspirin.

I hope I am high above the earth looking down on the rest of you when I turn 100. I have NO desire to live that long, unless it is a good quality life. So far I know people in their 80s and 90s who are doing Great. But I don't know anyone in their 100s who is doing well. But maybe with the longer life there will also be better quality of long life?????

I hope so. In the Bible man originally would live forever until he sinned and was cast out of the Garden. Its considered a tragedy when a loved one dies. We all miss them. How much more so we would rejoice to have them around as long as God will allow.

Hopefully, a good diet , staying active and living moderately will be the key. Medical advances will help , possibly, but for many, it may not the best of years. Once all of one's family is gone before them, that would seem especially difficult to deal with.

lift weights . Yup.
That's true.. even for folks that are less mobile, some simple exercises can help stimulate the body, mind and spirit.

While good that life is longer it is very sad to see an elder outlive her elder children. My grandmother outlived 2 out of her 3 kids. She died at age 97. Her 2 children both died in the 10 years prior in there 70's and it led to her deterioration no matter how many grandkids or love that she had helping her.

I just thought about my lovely littal angels (my little girls) and how this areticle said that over half the womens will live to be over 100. That means they should see the year 2100 - what a wonderful feeling
