Well if Sharon had only offered his hand to her husband, I doubt the press would have noted that she didn't shake hands with him.
Its not that big a deal, just an awkward moment due to simple culture differences. Since customs and affronts for some cultures are being written and rewritten almost daily, these incidents are bound to happen. Heck, for all I know saying 'Happy Kwanza' to her may have already gone from expected to an insult.

Since I read other versions of this same story early this morning, I knew there was something wrong here.
In fact, one thing I do know for a fact about Whitney is that she's an EXTREMELY neurotic individual. Heck, so is her aunt. And she does have some 'thing' about contamination.
