Protester's signs, displays irk neighbors, CalTrans

Graton man's anti-war banners, manure pile and casket turn heads along Highway 116

May 27, 2003

By MICHAEL COIT
THE PRESS DEMOCRAT

John Jenkel may find sympathy for anti-war messages he posts along a west Sonoma County highway, but his methods, including a manure pile and a casket, have antagonized neighbors and prompted CalTrans to intervene.

. . .

The war protest grew out of Jenkel's long-time obsession with San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown. Jenkel's office is piled high with fliers and files he has produced expressing his belief that Brown played a role in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, in a bid to become president of the United States.

To neighbors and a nursery owner across the highway, Jenkel's extreme views are signs of a troubled individual. But to others, he is an eccentric and highly visible political gadfly.

Motorists who likely know little if anything about Jenkel's conspiracy theories have supported his anti-war stance, if frequent honks are any indication.

"Honk for Bush behind bars" is on the latest of Jenkel's roadside signs and banners. Another states, "Impeach me and my gang now! George W. Bush."

. . .

I drove past this guy's place a couple of weeks ago on my way back to Marin from Guerneville and saw the "Honk for Bush...Behind Bars" sign. He's all too typical, I'm afraid.

Not that I want to be put into the position to stick up for good ol' Willie, but this wacko statement says enough for me.

I drive by his place everyday - I have never heard a single horn honk - he is another example of the "ponytail and prostate problem" crowd - trying to re-live those glory days when they were in the streets of SF and Berkeley. The fact that the PD would even notice tells you about the lack of news here in the North Bay -

NO kidding! Other than the SF Comical, what papers around here are not outlets for the NYTimes? The IJ and the Press are part and parcel of the Times.

However, I do disagree with a lack of news - it's a lack of wanting to investigae the news. Such as Woolsey (Woolhead)) letter to Interior Dept about the Indian gaming casino; Boxer's son brokering the deal for the Indians and Supervisor Mike Kerns not realizing he's been had by both women. This is truly a big story that implicates many big names in Democratic party - and their campaign cash from tribes to place these casinos all over. Will we read much about this? No, we get to read about idiots like the guy in this article!

Poitical Gadfly? Boy, how nice they are to one of their own. This guy is a nut, pure and simple:

John "Nine Eleven Bounty Hunter" Jenkel, visits San Francisco

For those who may want to contact this guy via phone or fax, his website is here:

It just goes to show you that Michael Savage is right:

Extreme liberalism is not a political philosophy; it is a mental disorder.

This guy doesn't discriminate. He hates everybody:

5. Lawfully picket in front of any Office of the Members of Congress (especially Brown-stained Lynn Woolsey, Nancy Pelosi, Tom Lantos, Peter DeFazio, Dennis Kucinich (soon to open a campaign office in Marin County, California) Henry L. Hyde, Dianne Feinstein, and Barbara Boxer, until Bush is impeached. They have been either bought off by pork in the recent $79 billion Appropriation Bills H. R. Res. 1559 and S. Res. 762, or are intimidated by da Machine run by Willie Brown, who masquerades as the Mayor of San Francisco.

6. Until Bush is impeached, make lawful public comment before every local elected body, ie, boards of supervisors, city councils, schools boards (like SRJC), fire districts, etc. All signed an Oath of Office in order to run for election. The most important words in their sworn promise is that they will support and defend our Constitutions against all enemies foreign and domestic. All members appear to be bought off or intimidated as above. My dear neighbor Bob Maddocks on the Graton Fire Protection District Board, my closest homeland protective body, has clearly been turned into a traitor. So has my Supervisor Mike Reilly and my District Attorney Steven Passalacqua.

Maybe the manure pile is simply the collected works of the Clinton/Gore administration
