Bush is signing the AIDS bill right now at the State Department. He's also got guests from Africa and the Carribean with him. The cost of the bill is $15 billion.

True, it doesn't seem likely that any one man or government could rise to the top of an area constantly warring against each other. However, the one thing Africans could potentially be united in is a belief that they have been oppressed by the whites because of their black skin.

Clinton tried to encourage this when he and the Beast went to the slave prisons in Africa and apologized on behalf of America for slavery. He would have loved to see the blacks of Africa unite against America...a skill he honed for decades while working with disgruntled blacks in the US.

That's why I love seeing Bush steal this issue from the left. Clinton's aim would have been very dangerous for us. However, I believe Bush has America as his #1 priority and he will do what's necessary in this area to win friends in African nations, not foes. He will use the AIDS issue in part to accomplish this.

Its hell being out there in far right field isn't it? Especially when the electorate chooses only those in the middle.

$15 billion could buy us 150 brand new F-22 Raptors.

Imagine all the extra bandwidth Jim Robinson could buy with $15B.

Yeah, I guess being pro-American-being against the flood of millions of illegals that continue to pour into our country, and against giving away many *billions* of American's hard earned money separates me from the Republican konservatives.

I'll wear that as a badge of honor, anyday.

Citing statistics on the devastation of the AIDS virus in Africa and the Caribbean, President Bush Tuesday signed a $15 billion global AIDS bill that sets aside one-third for abstinence education.

"This disease falls most heavily on women and children. Nearly 60 percent of those affected by HIV in sub-Sahara Africa are women. Three-million African children under the age of 15 have the AIDS virus," he said. "And the disease has left 11 million orphans, more children than live in the entire state of California."

The measure is designed to prevent seven million new infections over a five-year period. Congress recommended that 10 percent of the funds go toward caring for orphans whose parents died of the disease. Twenty percent is recommended for prevention, and 55 percent for treatment programs.

Matthew 5:16

"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

the electorate chooses only those in the middle.

By "those in the middle" do you mean those who applaud Bush for giving away $15 billion of our money to a 3rd world hellhole whose astronomical AIDS rates are due solely to its inhabitants' irresponsible behavior?

Good works are fine, and I highly encourage people to give to charitable causes. But I want to choose my own causes. This money is being stolen from the U.S taxpayer and given away against our will. ....And the AIDS rate in Africa will continue to climb, I assure you.

OK, I'll put my tinfoil on now.

Ya don't need no tinfoil for this one, Bon.
It's all up front.

I wonder if if Al Gore would have sent more to Africa?

Question is: Did they ever have yours? Did you vote for Bush in 2000? If not, then who cares? I suspect that a bunch of the folks here who say they're not going to vote for Bush in 2004 because of RKBA issues or this issue or another issue didn't vote for him in 2000 anyhow. No net loss, then, in 2004.

I'm guessing you won't answer this question.

I will answer your question.

Bush lost me when he was my Governor.

I voted for Bush, but in no way can I defend spending like this.

I did not vote for Bush.

When he won, I hoped I was wrong.

I wasn't.

....still believing in folk remedies and witch doctors. Much of this aid is in the form of education to prevent the disease.

I find it hard to believe that a people who have believed in witch doctors for thousands of years are going to change their world-view with the help of American tax dollars.

you sicken me.

Heck, they all sicken me.

We may as well have Gore as president.

Bush is getting away with stuff Gore could never get away with.

Bush is out Democrating the Democrats.

The Christian and Jewish concept of monogamy is the most important idea to be disseminated among savages. Not just Africa's either.

thanks for your incredible patience in sticking with threads like this and trying to bring a little logic, along with OhioW and others.

Throwing money at AIDS in Africa sure makes more sense than honoring the commitment to fund CONCURRENT RECEIPT to ALL (Combat and Non-Combat) Disabled Retired Veterans. < /sarcasm>

My dream candidate is Tom Tancredo, but he has enough problems holding on to his own seat.

Tancredo would be great.
I would rather have Ron Paul.

Oh, you're welcome. I don't always have the patience, but on days when I do, it is good to bring the other side to threads like this. I think it makes the thread a tad more informative.

Yeah, but we can all rest easy in the knowledge that he's "taking away thier issues." Any more take-aways and the Rats won't have any issues left ....the GOP will have appropriated every last one of them. Pretty soon there'll be no more need for the Democratic Party --- the GOP will take care of the needs of all liberals. Then the whole country can vote Republican and bask in the glory of a one-party system with a tent bigger than Anna Nicole Smith's nightshirt.

They do use my money, it's called taxes. And they use yours too. If you don't like it here there are plenty of other countries where they take even more of your money for social programs. Government waste is terrible, but some things are not a waste no matter how much you disagree with them.

I'm sorry tax lord. I will be a good little tax serf from here on out. I will not question the use of my the government's money for programs. The government knows better than all of us serfs.
