The cost of this bill is trivial, but does anybody think that this is going to do anything significant about the problem?

Given that AIDS is not Africa's primary problem, no.

I am not obligated to be responsible for life styles in other countries and don't want to be so obligated. Bush can go back to Texas, Kennebunkport or wherever he's from, and take his one-world views with him.

$15 billion could buy us 150 brand new F-22 Raptors.

Throwing money at AIDS in Africa sure makes more sense than honoring the commitment to fund CONCURRENT RECEIPT to ALL (Combat and Non-Combat) Disabled Retired Veterans. < /sarcasm>

Thanks Mr Bush! The American taxpayers are more than happy to give away $15,000,000,000 of their hard earned wealth away to people who can't or don't accept teh realities of how AIDS is spread and how it can be prevented.

You don't have a choice. All productive Americans are slaves of their government. Heck, now we're the slaves of Africans.

I am a citizen of the world. If the government can keep printing more money and borrowing more money so mommies and daddies can by clothes for their kids to go to school and Iraq can be safe for Shiite democracy and everyone in the country can take the same federal tests and church charities can be subsidized, and non citizens here both legally and illegally can have all kinds of free services to subsidize taking US jobs, and airlines can get billions of dollars for being incompetent, why shouldn't Africa get its cut?

RLK, you are just such a Luddite!!! (you know I'm kidding and I'm with you) And don't blame me...I'm a potatoEhead!! (Tancredo-Ventura 2004)

accept teh realities of how AIDS is spread and how it can be prevented.

Its not even AIDS, its TB, machete cuts, etc. They just report these things as AIDS to plug into our welfare machine.

If the mentality there doesn't change - all the money in the world will not help. Since the decision has already been made.......hopefully this money will go towards education and prevention of Aids....unfortunately Africa has even bigger problems....

The cost isn't really that trivial. It's costing each tax payer around $100. Add that to the $1,000 the farm bill cost you and the $200 the education bill cost you along with a ton of other brand new big spending programs and big government bureaucracies.

"It's the people's money" ....yeah right.

right, cause the government is using their "own" money and not ours... I don't think so. That's our tax money. This is totally corrupt. It is a payoff to the pharma companies who make the drugs, not to the african people. There is no cure for aids!

I assure you the rate of aids in southern africa will only increase over the next few years. Then they'll need more money from us! Hey we're only 6.4 trillion in debt. Who cares.

15 BILLION??? The budget for the department of education is only 30 Billion. The entire FBI costs us about 10 billion. Why coudn't the pharma companies produce some drugs for free and we could give them a tax break? Why? Cause they want the money to pad their bottom line. So they can show wall street a bigger revenue number. What a scam!

Im sure in the coming years, third world dictators will have plenty of new Lamborghini's and Mansions courtesy of our tax dollars and Africans will still be raping babies to cure themselves of HIV.

No, as always it will go to corrupt dicatorships and useless bureacracies.

The entire point of foreign aid is to create powerful centralized goverments and prevent the development of free markets.
