Clinton Sees Distorted Media
KARK.com News4 Arkansas ^ | Associated Press

Former President Bill Clinton says this country's media culture tends to distort the true political record. Clinton showed up Friday for the last session of a University of Arkansas at Little Rock class that studied his presidency. He spent more than two hours discussing his administration's successes and failures.

The former Arkansas governor clearly wanted to defend his legacy. He lamented what he called an atmosphere where everybody has an opinion and all you have to do is sound articulate on the television. He said nobody every asks if there's evidence to support a position.

Clinton said his own naiveté allowed opponents to force his hand on gays in the military as soon as he entered office. Similarly, he criticized himself for a lack of oversight that led to 18 deaths of U.S. servicemen when a helicopter was downed in Somalia in 1993. He also said he moved too slowly to ease a humanitarian crisis later in Rwanda.

He said he made a mistake pushing a new health care system before his less-controversial welfare reform package. Clinton said that was a repeat of an error he committed in his first term as Arkansas governor: trying to do too much too soon.

Now he claims to have supported welfare reform? It was forced down his throat after he vetoed it twice.

I hope the liberal pimps in the media who fell on their swords to support this sorry piece of trash are pleased to hear how grateful he is for all their efforts on his behalf.

"...his less-controversial welfare reform package."

His? His? Did I miss something or is this a little less than accurate?

Too many lots on the Arkansas river eh?
Too many broads up at the Gov'nas house ?
Too much toot out at the airport?

Oh, when will we ever be free of this dog pile.

Former President Bill Clinton says this country's media culture tends to distort the true political record.

I think the truth hurt him like a cross to a vampire. Someone needs to tell him he is no longer wanted.

He just described how he became President.

When he becomes an object of scorn and derision for all Americans, including his friends in the media.

Did he say anything about the mistake of not capturing Osama bin Laden when the Sudanese offered him?

That mistake certainly impacted on thousands on 9-11-01.

I think, in this same session, Clinton said he would not criticize George Bush, with respect to Iraq WMD, for going on what the CIA told him. He said something to the effect that the President has to go on the best information he has, and not second-guess his security agencies (CIA).

I, opposition to Clinton’s presidency and politics applauded him for this statement. I only hope the GOP will record and use this in the next election.
