Okay here's #98

"Certainly it is the correct choice to disobey man's law when it is contradiction to God's law."

"It's a stretch to say that a sign ordinance is in contradiction to God's law. To say nothing of what an obnoxious witness his sign is. I would rather he's have taken his money and quietly done some Godly work, without fighting for attention."

By not allowing this may to express himself is a violation of man's law but not God's principles. There are religious signs all over the place. Someone who has seen the sign on this thread says it's not "obnoxious". Have you personally seen the sign or the others signs that are "all over" this borough?

Most likely this is his way of doing "Godly" work. If it's not in agreement with your actions, must he apadt ONLY your ways of doing "Godly" work? I hope not.

While it is not my way ... I see he is trying to do right and since there are "signs all over" this borough and someone seeing this very sign says it's "not obnoxious", then I can't object. By "competing for attention" he may very well get the curiosity of others and maybe lead them to the Lord. This would indeed please Him. It's souls He wants and this can be a tool to have that happen.

The sign is on private property that he owns, so I say, let him do as he deems fit.

While we may have to agree to disagree, I noticed you like Eccl.. A passage comes to mind:

Eccl. 3: 1-8

[1] To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

[2] A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

[3] A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

[4] A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

[5] A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

[6] A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

[7] A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

[8] A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

I think you know that Christianity is being attacked. I don't mind if a fellow Christian sees this as "a time to speak". He's not hurting anyone. I'd bet he also sees the fading of Christianity and it's his way of speaking up. I give him credit because the vast majority prefer silence when it comes to Jesus. You see, believing or speaking up for Him, is not politically correct.

the letters are about 3ft. tall, if that. 2 stories up. well off the road. bedford is a traditionally solid conservative republican stronghold ie; Bud Shuster and Rick Santorum (pres.08)..but i have noticed a huge influx of gays into the community (cityfags) come for the beauty and innocense of rural Pa. and then ruin it with there poison. some conspirists say its to try to affect Santorums' district. cause turmoil to shake his base. (ie; debacle about his statements that graced the threads of our fine forum.)

I suppose the "cityfags" will be educating the community that voting for Santorum is an act of hate.

My husband says he saw the sign and likes it. I know exactly where this is. Most of the people on the Bedford Historical Society are liberal Democrats who hate the Republicanism of Bedford. Trust me! Two of them are my relatives *~_^!

It's right on a main road that everyone north of Bedford uses to travel into the town.

From what I'm aware of my mother and father's house is historical because it is over 100 years old. However, the Historical Society can't do anything about how they design the exterior of the house unless they were to sign up their house for the Historical Tour. Then they could be legally regulated up the wazoo!

This building is not historical. The Historical District also includes the part where Burger King is at but they have a big sign!

If you know this town you know that the Historical Society loves controlling everything in this town. AND YES... most of them are the few local Democrats that we have. Also quite a few of them are people from the Washington D.C. area that retired here and have all the time in the world on their hands with all their city-liberal ways.

I support this guy 100%.

Everyone on Free Republic should support this guy because:

This is a PRIVATE PROPERTY issue.
The Historical Society for years has ruined the economy of this town. To them it's all about power and how the little, ignorant, backwards people of Bedford cannot think for themselves.

They are for the most part Democrats who have a difficult time getting elected here and so they run around joining things that heavily effect the County but at the same time have no accountability.

Business in town is terrible in part because Old Rt. 30 is hard pressed to compete with the highway and secondly because the Historical Society makes having a business their as difficult as possible. In this way they have cultivated who and what is selling in town.

It is definitly a PRIVATE CLUB and only for those who have endeared themselves to the local elites.

You are precisely correct! The Bedford Historical Society has greatly eroded PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS in our town. They are also an unelected tyrannical group that is largely responsible for the local economic problems. If you own PRIVATE PROPERTY in Bedford Borough their is a price to pay.

For years locals have tried to fight them only for others to say "Well, it is a historical town...". True it used to be a fort in the 1700's but I'm pretty sure the original settlers meant for the prodigy to prosper and be free and not beholden to this consistent harassment. And as they were Christian I think they would have loved the sign ^_^!

I suspect that before the "Fall" animals and humans easily communicated with one another.

Is there a scriptural basis with which you might draw this conclusion? I find it equally fascinating that we have only two incidences with which we actually see evidence of animals speaking with humans and in both cases there is no demonstration of surprise. I realize the reltionship that man and animals have, but I am focusing on verbal communication between a human and animal.

There must have been some kind of communication going on with Noah and all those animals. To me it all just seems rather peculiar and wonder if there is anything I'm missing.

" ACLU has gone left "

They always were. It was started by a Communist in the 1920s, ya know.

If it were a giant neon flashing sign saying "I'm Gay!", I have a feeling you'd be fighting AGAINST it.

If what you say is true, the sign WOULD bring people closer to the Lord, and soon! :-)

How can you predict what the ACLU would or wouldn't do in a different situation? The fact is, they have offered to defend Jerry Falwell in the past, and they have defended other Christian cases.

Like Bill Oreilly said, the ACLU has gone left and they don't plan on coming back.

If Bill oreilly had studied history,
he would know that the ACLU was founded by three Marxists
and funded by V.I.Lenin in the 1920's.
It was started to destroy this Christian Nation through the
Bill of Rights.

Honestly, if I saw a large sign in the city that said "I'm gay" I would probably die from laughter. If somebody would like to proclaim that they are gay on the side of a building they own...go for it. I don't find that offensive at all.

Predict, who's predicting? They do what suits their political ends. If you think defending Falwell was out of "the right thing to do" you are nuts. They defend Christain cases when it has direct ramifications towards their agenda.

You may not have meant to do it, but I can't stop laughing. "I'm gay" in neon lights plastered on the side of an old car dealership...oh, that is funny.
