...Sitting in an office decorated with photographs of him meeting and greeting national dignitaries such as Nelson Rockefeller, George H. Bush and Richard Nixon, Crosbie said yesterday with a rueful smile, "I seem to have drawn a lot of flies" because of his remark. A television news crew had just left his office.
Crosbie, 79, who has served on the bench in Tarrytown for 17 years, said the remark was prompted by Khoder's behavior in the courtroom, which he described as "berserk." He was trying to call attention to what he regarded as her unusual manner in a humorous way, he said. Crosbie denied he made a second remark about terrorism, which Khoder insisted that he did.

There is more: in the March election for the village board, Village Justice William Crosbie, a Republican, ran unopposed.
And there is more: Her son, Hussein, is a gay activist and president of his homeowner's association.
What's really behind this? Perhaps the dems couldn't put up an electable candidate for Village Justice, so they decided we'll get him in and then we'll get rid of him.
Always remember..."Follow the money."

We knew he was a republican when it first came out. His political affiliation was the cause of his censure several years ago. Sure, there may be a political agenda at work here, but he certainly handed them the rope. I still say it was a ridiculously stupid remark, and he deserves the heat he's getting.

Agreed, the remark was flippant. Sometimes humour is used to relax people who are nervous. In this case he may have hit upon something, which would explain why she freaked out.

Either way, this was not a random middle-eastern person, this was a parent of a Democratic activist, who is now caught up in the college scene. This is a rather blatant attempt at smear: QB-7 all the way.

I wonder what the court reporter transcribed. We haven't heard whether there was one or not.

There's always more to the story than we really know (I'll be the first to admit that!) but it's just plain stupid to make fun of someone's last name, doubly so to call them a terrorist. He's free to say whatever he wants, but he has a responsibility to act with decorum as a judge. We expect no less of judges who hold the Republican conviction and are supposed to be above the kind of petty things we've come to expect from Democrats these days.

    Hang on judge. Don't cave.
To: TaxRelief
Hey, if she was acting hysterical in the courtroom, it would be remiss of the judge not to inquire into her connections to terrorism, especially in this day and age and our nation being under High Alert...the judge acted appropirately and has nothing to apologize for...IMHO.
To: TaxRelief
It's the new Democrat tactic. Well, maybe not so new. Try to overturn elected officials by starting some controversy (See Rick Santorum)............demand resignation.

There was no transcription. This was traffic court!

Actually, except for a city, size isn't the criteria. It depends on your incorporation status.

a responsibility to act with decorum as a judge...like the one sho gave oj a pass or like the ones in the senate who gave clinton a pass?

This is just another step in the "work from the inside out" plan for the destruction of America. We can thank GLAAD for teaching all activists all the best techniques.

Both Judge Ito and the Senate acted with decorum, but not necessarily with wisdom. Those are two different things.

Decorum is not making an ad hominem attack against someone based on their last name before they've even opened their mouth.

Foreigners who come here ought to laugh like we do or get back to where they once belonged.

I suspect that the vast majority of born-and-bred Americans would not appreciate having a judge making fun of their last name in court at the outset of proceedings.

If the guy had made a wisecrack about drunk driving to an American with an Irish last name appearing in traffic court, there'd be just as much hell to pay.

But it's fun to bash the foreigners, isn't it...oh, wait, she's an American citizen and has been for nearly two decades. Somehow your argument doesn't fit.
