Katie and Christie Todd: RINO Takes a Few Mild Shots in Departure Interview
The Today Show

Posted on 05/22/2003 4:27:17 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Christie Todd Whitman, the EPA Administrator who recently announced her resignation, just completed her interview with Katie Couric of the Today Show.

Christie of course trotted out the classic "spend more time with the family" excuse, but Katie was having none of it. She wanted to drive the largest possible wedge between Whitman and President Bush.

Urged Katie: "A lot of people are speculating that this has to do with policy differences. Were there any points when it was disappointing or frustrating that President Bush did not follow your advice?"

Christie gave answers that fell into the "more in sorrow than in anger" category.

Speaking of the Bush administration's decision not to go forward with the Kyoto treaty on global warming (which would have hamstrung the US economy, she stated:

"When we got out of Kyoto, it was the way we did it that concerned me. We should have stressed that we weren't getting out of climate change, just that we didn't think Kyoto was the best way to do it. So it looked bad to the Europeans."

Katie then eagerly pointed out that "President Bush also reversed a campaign promise to cut carbon dioxide emissions. That must have been embarrassing."

Agreed Whitman: "It caught me by surprise. We didn't lay out well enough what the thinking was."

Of course all of Couric's questions were from the perspective that Pres. Bush's decisions were mistakes: "Do you think that decision (on carbon dioxide) hurt the President as much as Kyoto?" "It hurt him unfairly," said Whitman.

Couric then quoted from an environmental group: "Whitman has presided over a White House driven effort to undermine environmental laws. His tenure has been a disaster for public health and our enviroment."

Couric's final shot was a classic: "So you don't feel you've been too anti-regulatory, AS MANY PEOPLE believe?"

My questions to Kouric would be. "So you still lick Bill Clintoons boots after all this time, I've seen pictures? Is Hitlery a real blonde, we know you know? Who told you that you are in any way relevent, since so many people know you aren't?"

AS MANY PEOPLE believe

Katie Couric journalism decoder

"Many people believe..." = "My dinner party guests believe..."

Mine would be: Uh Katie, what possessed you to appear on national television with a large metallic pole shoved up your rectum?

My question to Whitman is WHY did you go on this show and show such lack of class?

Methinks that's a self-apparent question. A more appropriate one is, "Why did you ever pollute the party of Reagan?"

Should've made sure that I stuck Christine's name in that question ("Christine, why did you ever pollute the party of Reagan?"). Apologies in advance if I didn't make it clear.

Who told you that you are in any way relevent, since so many people know you aren't?"

But obviously she is relevant to many people, otherwise we wouldn't have the daily Katie post with so many Freepers reporting on her every movement and interview.

I don't watch her, and I really don't care what she has to say because to me, she really, really is irrelevant.

Kyoto was the best way to do it.

Kyoto was a bunch of garbage!!!! Yet, another "FEEL GOOD" program that just happened to leave out the 2 most poluting countries...India & China. Many countries "said" they get on board, but very few actuallt ratified it.

I don't watch her either but I like to seen the posts. I don't think too many Freepers see her as anything but a gnat to be swatted.
