People Don't Want The Liberal Radio They've Already Got, Why Would They Want Another?
RaoulGram | Various FReepers

Posted on 05/21/2003 7:42:49 PM PDT by Doctor Raoul

Below is a list of 95 liberal talk hosts, liberal talk networks, liberal talk stations or syndicated liberal programs that are in the marketplace ALREADY.

None garners an audience anywhere near the top conservative hosts.

So what makes the liberals believe that they have been "shut out" of the marketplace o ideas?

Could it be that ad $$$$ are an indicator of merit that decides who gets on?

Could it be that when it comes to the marketplace of ideas, liberal shelves are either bare or hold stale goods?

Any additions, deletions, comments or even your opinions are welcome on the content of this list. It was made possible by the combined efforts of the FreeRepublic.com community. Thank you to all who helped in the earlier efforts.

I'd like to chime in regarding the personalities on KGO AM-810 San Francisco.

Christine Craft - you could test fly the space shuttle between her ears.

Bernie Ward - A truly vile lefty pinko scum. Jabba the Slut.

Ray Taliaferro - Actually a very intelligent man, has an entertaining show, just misguided by the lies of the left.

Shaan Nix - She's not really liberal. Mainly marches to her own drummer, and is actually somewhat conservative in a sea of liberalism. Refreshing and unusual views.

I wasn't aware that Hightower still had a radio show.

He doesn't. Just a daily two-minute radio commentary.

Please add:

WORT 89.9, Madison, WI "Listener-sponsored backporch community radio"

And add Harry Shearer (yes, of Spinal Tap fame) as an NPR talking head. He has an overnight show (screed?) broadcast in our area. It is so bad and slimy Bush-bashing that I can't listen for more than a few seconds--and I regularly listen to NPR.

(Yeah, I know, it's one of two stations I can get in the bathroom. I brush my teeth a LOT.)

The lamestream press perfected it's method of agendized news years ago. Keep it quick, emotional and deliver soundbites. Americans fell for it, and mostly ignored the fact they were being programmed by socialist elitist journalists with obvious left-bias.

But things change.

Radio talk shows cannot sustain this infotainment shallow concept, it demands in-depth give-and-take. The liberal agenda withers under the scrutiny.

Nice run down. Yes, liberals get their dogma reaffirmed slavishly from network news and the inkstained wretches in print media.

I gotta disagree on this one. Ronn Owens of KGO (San Francisco) is the only major-market talk show host that is capable of beating Limbaugh head-to-head.

I haven't seen the latest Arbitron book numbers, but the last time that Rush said he was #1 in San Francisco was in January 2000.

Now KGO has a flamboyant gay guy weekend evenings, "Karel." He's Bernie Ward with a squeaky voice, if you can imagine that.

I love talk radio, but you've got to be kidding. It's mostly give and very little take.

There are some shortwave broadcasts, if you're interested.

F.A.I.R produces American Viewpoint (includes Jim Hightower commentary for you addicts).

And Steppin Out Of Babylon

Harry Shearer does Le Show ("from the home of the homeless")

For a live, liberal bent show that takes calls - RNI - Radio New York International.

The above are on WBCQ 7.415Mhz (Monticello, Maine).

Then there's RFPI, Radio for Peace International, out of Costa Rica, iirc.

I was not counting the shortwave ones. Wanted to keep it withbin the scope of what's up for debate, the AM radio band.

Thanks for the entries, will file that away. DOesn't Sheeaer have something on NPR or something? He might already be on the list, I recall visiting his website.

When liberal ideas are articulated, sight unseen, they don't make sense and people understand that. But when they are included in movies, spun as news, and sold between the covers of books as literature or school materials, then liberal ideas can be masked and they are more successful.

I think it was a HUGE coup for Sean Hannity in Detroit (WWJ) to have bumped Mitch Albom's show to later in the evening. It seems the station was noticing a marked "ratings dropoff" between the end of Rush at 3PM ET and Hannity's show!

Gee, Rush NOT the biggest voice in EssEff. Who'da thunk it? Part of this has to do with the fact that Owens is on a 50K blowtorch, KGO 810, while Rush is on KSFO, which I think is 5K or 10K max (the frequency, 560, is mandated lower wattage by the FCC). So there are pockets in the area where you just can't hear KSFO but KGO comes BLASTING through. Of course, a larger part has to do with the fact that we are Moonbat Central over on the left side of the Bay.

Probably need to review and edit the list. A few of these libs bit the dust since published.
