I have given up carbs for about three weeks now and lost fifteen pounds. It really isn't that hard.

The cravings for DONUTS, PIZZA, ICE CREAM, CHOCOLATE MALTS, PANCAKES WITH MAPLE SYRUP and such things eventually go away.

I hope.

It was the lack of beer that battered my psyche.

My husband started the week before Easter and has lost 19 lbs--his sugar cravings lasted a few days at most. He has stayed on the induction phase as far as carb counts go and it is not that difficult for him. He gave blood on Monday and his blood pressure has dropped significantly as well. It will be interesting to see what his cholesterol comes back as...he has been over 200 previously.

They go away faster is you type the names of all of them, and say them out loud several times an hour. Posting pictures of them helps, too.

Cravings go away. Desire is a different story.

Suggestion: Atkins Baking Mix and Sucralose are your friends...

Oh, pooh! I'm sick of all these goofy diets! Who knows what
kind of harm they do in the very long run? I just ate
three pieces of Russell Stover chocolate and I'm happy.
Dr. Atkin's diet didn't do him a lick of good in the long
run. If anyone doesn't like my porky protrusions, then all
I can say is pooh!

My experience was that the physical cravings went first. The psychological cravings took time.

You can have a lot of substitutes for all that stuff. There are carb-free bread mixes, pancake baking mixes and carb-free maple syrup, and tons of low-carb chocolate stuff. mmmmmmmmmm. I couldn't live without it.

For what it's worth, I had NO cravings at all, until the thread about the oreo cookies law suit in California. All of a sudden, I had a huge craving for oreos and a big glass of milk. But I got over it!

I;ve been on the diet for two weeks now.
